To all whom it may concern? Be it known that I, "HENRY A. RIDLEY, of Newport, in the county of Jackson and State of Arkansas, have invented a new Improvement in Shovel-Plow Blades, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

Figure 1 is a front elevation of my improvement. Fig. 2 is a sectional side elevation of the same, taken through the line 00 m, Fig. 1.

The object of thisinvention is to facilitate the enlargement and contraction of shovel-plow r 5 blades, as the character of the work to be done may require, and also to facilitate repairing the blades.

The invention consists in constructing ash0v-. el-plow blade, of a base plate to be attached to the plow standards to support the sections of the blade, and the changeable wings and changeable point secured to the projectin gsides and lower end of the base-plate, whereby the saidwings and point, or either of them, can

be readily detached and replaced by others of .Qdifi'erent size or shape, as will be hereinafter fully described.

A is a plate which is designed to be secured to the plow-standard B by bolts 0. The lower 0 end of the base-plate A is made pointed, and to the said plate, a little above its lower end, islsecured by bolts or rivets a rectangular plate, D, which is made narrower than the said plate A, and has its side and lower edges 5 -"beveled upon their rear sides, to receive the beveled edges of the wings E and point F.

The projecting parts of the base-plate A form seats for the wings E and point F, which parts E F are secured in place by bolts G.

I have described the base-plate as being 40 made in two parts or pieces and secured to each other; but it is obvious that it can be made in one piece without departing from my invention, the essential feature being to pro vide shouldered seats to receive and support the changeable parts of the shovel.

With this construction, when the wings E and point F, or either of them, become worn or are broken, they can be readily detached and replaced by other parts or sections, thus avoiding the expense of buyingan entire blade. By this construction,also, the wings E can be detached and replaced by larger or smaller wings, as the size of the plants or the work to be done may require.

The wings E can be made pointed, as shown in Fig. 1, or mold-board shaped, as shown in Fig. 4, or of any other desired shape.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

- The combination, with the plate A, adapted to besecured to any plow-standard and pointed at the lower end, the wings E, and the point F, of the rectangular plate D, placed between the wings E E and in rear of the point F, flush with them all, and overlapping, with a beveled edge, the correspondin gly-beveled edge ofeach of them, as shown and described.
