PANTALOON-PROTECTOR.

SPECIFICATION forming part of VLetters Patent No. 237,427, dated February 8, 1881.

To all wlw/ml it may concern Be it known that I, BENNET C. WILsoN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Pantaloon- Protectors, of which the following is a speciication, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, wherein- Figure l is a transverse vertical section of the lower portion of the pantaloons with my improvement shown as applied thereto. Fig. 2 is a perspective of my invention,.and Fig. 3 is a like View ot' a slight moditication of the same.

My invention has for its object to provide a pantaloon-leg protector of an improved construction, designed to be secured to the hem of the leg ofthe pantaloons, so as to protect said hem from abrasion, and which also serves the place of the lining heretofore used.

My invention accordingly consists ot' a strip of rubber, leather, or other suitable material,

the lower edge of which is split to form aap or double edges 5 or the iiap maybe separately secured thereto, said protector being secured to the hem of the pantaloon-leg by eyelets or stitching, so that the liap will overlap said hem.

Referring to the accompanying drawings, B represents the lower portion of the leg ot' a pair 'of pantaloons provided with the usual hem b.

A is the protector, made ot a piece of rubber, leather, cloth, or other suitable material, molded or otherwise cut into appropriate form of sufficient length to extend all around the leg of the pantaloons. Said protector is-split at its enough to extend some distance up the leg B,

thereby serving for a lining and dispensing with the duck or canvas material usually employed for that purpose.

It' desired, a strip of cloth, O,\as shown in Fig. 3, may be attached to the upper edge ot' the protector A for the purpose of securing the same, by stitching, to the leg of the pantaloons; so, too, the eyelets or stitching b b', in-

may be passed through both'edges a af and the hem b. 4What I claim as my invention is- 1. The pantaloon-protector A, provided with split or apped edges a a', substantially as shown and described.

2. In combination with the pantaloon-protector A, provided withl double edges, to one of which is secured the hem of the garment, the other overlapping said hem, substantially as shown and described, and for the purpose set forth.
