Description
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOHN TUGGLE, 0F NEW MIDDLETON, TENNESSEE.
CURRYING-KNIFE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 227,597, dated May 11, 1880.
Application led March 24, 1880. (Model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN TUGGLE, of New Y Middleton, in the county of Smith and State of Tennessee, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Currying-Knives7 -of which the following is a specification.
My invention consists in anovel construction and mode of attachment of the blade and stock of a currying-knife, whereby provision is made for adjusting the blade to suit the different kinds of work.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure l is a side view of my improved knife. Fig. 2 is a section taken on the line x m of Fig. l. Fig. 3 is an edge View.
Simila-r letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
A represents the stock, B the blade, and C O the handles at the ends ofthe blade. The stock is slightly curved, so as to present a concave surface on one side to enable itto be used as a burnisher or lattener.
In the stock A is a straight longitudinal slot, e, in which the blade B is held. In the center of the blade is a transverse slot,f, and at its ends are notches d. The blade is held in place by means of a screw, g, passing through the stock and through the central slot, f, and two screws, l1J h, passing through the stock and engaging' with the notches d.
By loosening the screws g and h h the blade may be adj usted at different angles of inclination with relation to the stock, and held in place by tightening the screws.
Having thus fully described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- A currying-knife having its stock A slotted and its blade B adjustable to di'erent positions in said stock, and held in place therein by means of a slot, f, and notches d and screws g and h h, as herein shown and described.
JOHN TUGGLE.
