IMPROVEMENT IN HAY-KNIVES.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 165,841, dated July 20, 1875 application filed June 18, 1875. e

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, RUssEL KELLOGG, of Battle Creek, in the county of Calhoun and in the State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hay-Knives; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings and to the 1etters of reference marked thereon, making a part of this specification:

The nature of my invention consists in the construction and arrangement of a hay-knife with corrugated edge, forming rounded teeth, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.

In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and usethe same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, which represents a perspective "iew of my device.

A represents the knife-blade. having its edge made in curved form, as shown, and corrugated, so that the entire edge consists of a series of rounded teeth, a a. The entire edge of the knife is sharpened so that it will out both ways, or, in other words, as well on the upward as the downward stroke. The inner end of the knife is formed with the handle B, and another handle, 0, is attached to the knifeblade, and braced by a brace, D. V

The knife is used in the same manner as other knives of this class.

Having thus fully described my invention, What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

The hay-knife A, having its edge corrugated to form the rounded teeth a a, and sharpened its entire length, so that the knife will out both ways, substantially as herein set forth.
