Specification of Letters Patent No. 22,754, dated January 25, 1859.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, PHILIP Sintomi-in, of the borough of Columbia, in the county of Iianeaater. in the State ot' Pennsylvania, have invented a new and Improved Mode ot lnereaeing the Heat Thrown Out From Stowe1 and Having and VUsing the laete lleat Vroni Stoves: and I do hereby declare that the following is a t'ull and exact deaeription thereof. reference being had to the aeeolnpanying drawings and to the lettere ot' reterenee niarlted thereon.

The nature ot n1 intention eonaiste in plat-ing in the upper part of a stove and over the tire one or more eylimlere` or drinne or vertieal or horizontal eul'ved tubeS. with air-pipe4 or tubes extending through or ontlide of the stove to the fioor or east in the stove iteelt'. They may, it' desired. be extended to the cellar or outside ot the buildx ing. Cold air is eonveyed from the floor or eellar or street` through these tubes or pipea to the drinne or eylinders and while paseing ie heated and may be Carried to another room. adjoining or upper. without din'iiniahing the heat ot' the room in which the Stove is placed, or lnay be let into the rooni t'rom the top of the Stove and thereby largely increase the heat. The heat in the letore, whieh in al] known forms ot stoves passes through the pipe to the chimney and is wasted, is here inade to heat the air in the drinne or cylinders. The heaty of the Stove not being obstructed by outside oasinge, is at the saine time increased, the Space fer its operation being diminished by the drums. The advantage ot' a second or third drum ie that the heat can act on more Surface of cold. air.
