(01. 132 79) This invention relates broadly to receptacles, and more particularly to a receptacle designed for use as a vanity case; the object, intent and purpose of the invention being to provide a receptacle whereby lipstick, powder, and a nail file may be carried in ones pocket or pocketbook without the disadvantages now generally attending the carrying of such articles.

A present object to the carrying of an exposed nail file or similar instrument in ones purse or pocket is the generally resulting damage to the interior of such handbag, pocketbook, or pocket, as well as the likelihood of injury to the hand caused by the pricking of the hand with the sharp point of such type of instrument when one is seeking to examine the contents of such pocketbook or the like, as for the purpose of removing some selected article therefrom.

The invention together with its objects and advantages will be best understood from a study of the following description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing wherein:

Figure 1 is an elevational view of a receptacle embodying the features of the present invention.

Figure 2 is an end elevational view of the receptacle.

Figure 3 is a transverse sectional view taken substantially on the line 3-3 of Figure 1.

Figure 4 is a longitudinal sectional view through the receptacle.

Figure 5 is an elevational view of one section of the receptacle.

Figure 6 is an elevational View of the assembly shown in Figure 5.

Figure '7 is a side elevational view of the receptacle with the cover cap forthe rouge stick removed.

Referring more in detail to the drawing it will be seen that in the preferred embodiment thereof the receptacle indicated generally by the reference numeral 5, is of tubular form, being of relatively small diameter and of material length.

The receptacle 5 is divided into a pair of complemental sections 6, I and in the present instance the section I at one end thereof is provided with a threaded socket 8 for receiving a threaded pin or extension 9 on one end of the receptacle section 6 whereby the sections 6 and I may be readily and detachably secured together in tandem.

The receptacle section 6 is designed to carry powder, or the like I0 and is completely open at one end. For the said open end of the receptacle section 6 there is provided a closure plug I II that threads into said open end of the receptacle section B as shown in Figure 2 and indicated at I2.

To facilitate dispensing of the contents of the receptacle section 6 the closure plug II thereof is provided with a discharge port I3 for which a disk valve i4 is pivoted on the plug II through the medium of a pivot screw or the like I5.

The receptacle section 1 at the end thereof remote from the end 8 of such section is bored to provide at said end a socket I6 to receive the capped end I I of a lipstick I8.

Also at the socket end I6 thereof the receptacle section 'I is provided with a threaded integral pin extension I9 to threadedly accommodate a protector cap 20 provided for the lipstick I8 as shown in Figure 3.

Likewise the receptacle section I is of a length to accommodate a nail file or similar instrument 2| of suitable length.

Further, in the contemplation of the present invention the receptacle section 6 may be used admirably as a handle for the file 2| and to this end, at the end 9 thereof, the receptacle section 6 is provided with a recess or socket 22 that receives the shank of the file 2I at the blunt end of the shank and as also clearly shown in Figure 4.

The file 2| may be engaged, when desired, with the metal cap I! of the lipstick I8 for forcing said end of the lipstick out of the socket I6 as will be required when a replacement of the lipstick is deemed necessary.

It ish believed that the invention, due to the simplicity thereof, and the many advantages of the invention will be readily appreciated by those skilled in the art.

It is also to be understood that while I have herein shown and illustrated a preferred embodiment of the invention, the privilege of resorting to all of the mechanical changes to which the device is susceptible is reserved; it being in no wise intended to restrict the invention beyond the terms of the claims hereunto appended and the scope of the prior art.

Having thus described the invention what is claimed as new is:

1. In a receptacle of the character described, a tubular barrel divided transversely into a pair of complemental sections complementarily equipped at one end for detachable connection of the sections in longitudinal alignment, one of said sections serving. as a receptacle for powder and being open at its free end, a closure plug for said end of said one section, a lipstick having an end seated in the free end of the other of said disk pivoted on said plug and normally closing said discharge opening, said one section also having a tool shank extending from the closed end thereof and said other section housing saidshank when said sections are coupled together, said other section having an axiallbore therethrough, a lipstick having a capped end seated in the bore of said other section at the free end of the latter; the capped end of said lipstick being provided with an axial recess to accommodate the free end of said tool when the sections of the barrel are assembled.

3. In a receptacle of the character described, a pair of detachably connected axially joined sections, one of said sections having an axial bore therethrough, a lipstick having a capped end seated in the bore of said one section, a tool shank extending from one end of the other of said sections and housed by the first-named section when said sections are coupled together, and the capped end of said lipstick being provided with an axial recess to accommodate the free end of said tool when said sections are assembled.
