This invention relates to sport trousers and more particularly to sport trousers of the kind in which a length or lengths of elastic webbing are provided on the outside to ensure support of the trousers on the wearer.
The invention has for an object to provide an improved form of such trousers suitable for ladies wear.
In accordance with the invention one half of the waist band is formed at each side with fastening means for engagement with a length of elastic, or lengths of elastic webbing extending through a tunnel or loops on the other half of the waist-band, an opening, provided at one side at least of the trousers and extending downwardly from the upper edge of the trousers, being fitted with a fastener of the sliding clasp type.
A pair of trousers constructed in accordance with a preferred embodiment of the present invention will be more fully described with reference to the accompanying drawing in which Fig. 1 is a perspective view of the upper portion of a pair of trousers embodying the improved supporting means, while Fig. 2 is a development of the 26 waist band.
Referring now to the drawing the front portion of the waist band I is formed with tabs or the like 2, each tab being provided with spaced buttons 3. A strip of elastic webbing 4 having suitable end tabs 5 of fabric extends through a tunnel 6 on the rear half I of the waist band The elastic webbing 4 may be stitched as shown at 8 to the rear portion of the waist band I. The tabs 5 are provided with button holes 9 adapted, to be fastened to the buttons 3, the webbing being. arranged so that it may be stretched and fastened to the front tabs 2 without stretching the waist band.
The trousers are provided with an opening ll down at least one side, which opening is adapted to be closed by means of a sliding clasp fastener ll. Seams I2 are provided at each side of the opening which each extend over one half of the fastener so that the fastener II is masked by the 5 seams which are adapted to be brought closely together when the opening is closed by the fastener ll.
A flap l3 suitably of lining material is secured on the inside of the trousers, adjacent one side of 10 the opening Hi, the flap being provided with a button hole H to be engaged by a button IS on the other side of the opening 10, the flap serving to protect the clothing of the wearer from being caught in the fastener II.
Spaced pads N5 of rubber or plush or other material are attached to the inside of the waist band to prevent the shirt or blouse from riding up. a
Pockets with inclined openings H are suitably 20 provided in the front portion of the trousers.
I claim:
A garment of the character described including a trunk and limb covering portion, said portion presenting a gap at one side extending downwardly from the upper edge of the garment, fastening means of the sliding clasp type for closing said gap, a flap attached to the inside of said garment adjacent the gap and means for attaching the flap to the inside of the garment on the other side of said gap to provide a closure additional to the sliding clasp fastening means, a waist band extending around part of the upper portion of said garment, a tunnel extending around the remainder of said garment, a length of elastic webbing disposed in said tunnel and stitched substantially midway of its length to the material of said tunnel and fastening means at each end 08 the waist band for attachment to the elastic webbing.
