Description

W. T. BUCKNER.
NECKTIE RETAINER.
No. 190,001. Patented April 24, 1877.
N-PETERS. FHTO-LITHOGRAPHER. WASHINGTON, D. C
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
WILLIAM T. BUGKNER, OF BEREA, OHIO.
IMPROVEMENT IN NECK-TIE RE TAINERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent N 0. h90 ,00l, dated April 24, 1877; application filed March 12, 1877. 1
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, WILLIAM T. BUGKNER, of Berea, in the county of Ouyahoga and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Neck-Ties; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear. and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification, and in which- Figure 1 is a view of my improvement, attached to a neck-tie. Fig. 2 is a perspective view thereof. Fig. 3 is a vertical section of the same; and Fig. 4 is a section through the dotted line 00 a: of Fig. 1.
Corresponding parts in the several figures are denoted by like letters. v
. This invention relates to a certain improvement in attachments for neck-ties; and it con: sists of a perforated slotted plate, preferably bowed, and having projections or flanges for securing it to the tie, substantially as hereinafter more fully set forth.
The object of this invention is to do away with attaching the plate to the tie by sewing.
In the annexed drawing, A refers to a plate,
perforated and slotted, as shown, and preferably bowed, to provide for the reception of the collar-button between it and the tie. Formed with, or otherwise attached to, the plate A are projections or flanges a a, which, in attaching the plate to the tie, are passed or inserted through slits in the rear stiiifened portion of the tie, and then clamped against the same, thus firmly fastening the plate thereto. i
This invention is simple, consequently cheap, and can be quickly and easily attached to the tie.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The neck-tie attachment consisting of the bowed plate or frame A, and flanges or projections a a, all made in one and the same piece, and having the button-slot, substantially as set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I hereunto affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
WILLIAM T. BUOKNER.
