COMBINATION SHIRT AND DRAWERS Filed y 9. 1930 2 Sheets-Sheet 2 Patented Sept. 8, 1931 UNITED STATES HYMAN GUSSAK, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
COMBINATION SHIRT AND DRAWERS Application filed July 9, 1930. Serial No. 466,800.
The present invention relates to improvethe neckband and extends downwardly to the ments in mens garments and has reference more particularly to a combination shirt and drawers.
The principal object of the present invention is to provide a garment of the above mentioned character which will combine, in a unitary structure, an outer shirt as distinguished from an undershirt, and a pair of drawers.
Another important object is to provide a combination shirt and drawers that will afford maximum comfort to the wearer, the garment being of such construction as to permit the same to be readily and easily put on or taken off.
A further object is to provide a combination shirt and drawers which is simple in construction, inexpensive, strong and durable and further well adapted to the purposes for which it is designed.
Other objects and advantages of the invention will -become apparent from the following description when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings.
In the accompanying drawings wherein like reference characters indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views:
Figure 1 is a front elevation of the combination shirt and drawers embodying my invention. T
Figure 2 is a side elevation thereof.
Figure 3 is an enlarged fragmentary nerspective view of the drawers forming a. salient pa t of the present invention. and
Figure 4C is a vertical sectional vi w taken approximately on the line 44 o Figure 1.
In the drawings. wherein for the purpose of illustration is shown the preferredv embodiment of my invention, the numeral 1 designates generally the outer shirt. the same including the front 2 and the back 3, the back being connected to the front by the 4.5 usual side seams. The sleeves of the shirt are indicated at 4t and the neckband at 5.
The front 2 is open and the vertical opening is closed by the customary buttons denoted by the numeral 6. It is to be understood that the front opening commences at crotch portion 7.
The drawers portion of the garment is denoted generally by the numeral 8 and the I fronts of the two legs of the drawers are}, indicated at 9, said frontal portions forming a continuation of the respective portions of the front 2 of the shirt. Cooperating with the frontal portions 9 are the rear leg portions 10, the rear leg portions forming a continuation of the back 3 of the shirt.
Laterally extending tabs 11 and 12 are as sociated with the interposed edge portions. of the fronts 9 at the crotch portion 7 ,said tabs being adapted for disposition in over lapping relation when in use. A button 13 is attached to one tab while a button-hole 14 is formed in the complementary tab for re-- ceiving the button 13 to secure the tabs in overlapping engagement for a purpose to be presently described.
The lower edge of the back portion of the drawers is cut to form a substantially V and attached to the V-shaped edge portion is a strip of fabric of thesame material as the shirt and drawers. This strip of material includes a central V-shaped tongue 14 and corner wings 15.
In Figure 3 of the drawings, there is clearly illustrated the manner in which the nortions of the material constituting the drawers are arranged when the garment is worn and it will be observed that the tongue 14. is brought underneath of the crotch portion of the garment and is adapted to be attached S5 to the lowermost button of the row of but tons that connect the divided front portions of the shirt together, it being of course understood that the tongue 14 is provided with.
a button hole such as is indicated at 16.
The free edge portions of the front sides of the legs of the drawers will be disposed in overlapping relation with respect to the corner wings 15 that form continuations of the inner side edges of the back portions of disposed across the tongue 14' and are connected together as indicated at Figures 1 and 4 so as to form the complete unitary garment.
A combination outer shirt and drawers of the above mentioned character can be readily and easily put on or taken off and will at the same time, not interfere with the ordinary movements of the body of the wearer. Furthermore, the construction of the drawers is such as to permit the same to be easily operated for purposes of utility.
Although I show a shirt open at the front with collar attached and sleeves it is to be understood that I do not wish to limit myself to the construction as the invention is equally well applicable to a shirt with or without an opening: in the front, with or without attached collar and with or without sleeves.
A garment of this character will be strone; and durable yet inexpensive in its manufacture.
lVhile I have shown the preferred embodiment of the invention. it is to be understood that minor changes in the size, shape and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing; from the spirit of the in vention and the scope of the a nnended Clain'u'.
I-Iavino thus described the invention what I claim is:
