The invention relates to clothes hanging devices and has for its object to provide a device of this description which is of extreme simplicity, cheap to manufacture and efficient in use.

The average house of today, particularly in cities, has a scarcity of closet room. The clothes hanging device built in accordance with my invention may readily and quickly be placed on the door of the room or any convenient ledge or moulding and thus provide means for supporting clothes or garments.

The device may be quickly taken apart and put together again and occupies small space when disassembled. Thus it may be conveniently carried about by a person traveling from one place to another and if one stops at a room where the clothes hanging facilities are inadequate he may set up the device and thus provide suitable means for hanging his clothes.

Other advantages will become apparent as this specification proceeds. Referring to the drawings forming a part thereof and in which a preferred embodiment of the invention is illustrated Fig. 1 is a front view;

Fig. 4 is a perspective view of one of the removable supports for the clothes hangers.

Referring again to the drawings the reference numeral 5 designates the hanger bar. The upper end of this bar has a hook portion 6 by means of which the bar may be suspended on a door. This hook portion 6 might be appropriately shaped so that the bar could be suspended from a moulding or other suitable ledge, or the downwardly extending part of the hook portion might be eliminated and a hole provided in the portion on top of the door through which hole a screw or nail might be passed to secure the hanger bar in place.

The hanger bar 5 is provided with a plurality of vertically extending slots 7. Cooperating with theseslots are L-shaped members 8. One leg of theL-shaped members 8 has a hook-like portion 9 which engages the slots 7 and the other leg has a slot 10 in which the garment hangers 11 may be hung.

The upper one of the slots 7 also accommodates a hat hanger 12 which has a hook portion 13 resting over the hook portion 9 of the upper one of the L-shaped members.

The lower part of the hanger bar 5 is turned up at 14 and a hook is thus provided on which a whist-broom or other appropriate article ma be hung.

From t e foregoing it will be-readily observed that a cheap and efiicient clothes hanging device is made and one that may be easily and quickly assembled or taken apart.

Changes in details made without departing from the scopeof the'invention as set claims.

I claim:

1. A portable and collapsible clothes hanger, including a bar terminally formed to permit it to be removably suspended from a fixture, said bar being formed between its ends with a rectangular slot, and a clothes hanger having a hook terminal to loosely embrace and be supported by the lower edge of such slot, said member being extended below the hook to provide a length to bear squarely against the surface of the bar and extended outwardly from such extended portion to support a hanger proper in advance of and spaced from said bar.

A portableand collapsible clothes hanger, including a bar terminally formed with a supporting hook, said bar below the hook presenting a'flat portion formed with a rectangular slot, a clothes hanger support having a terminal hook to embrace and be supported by the lower edge of such slot and having a part below the hook to bear squareof construction may be forth in the appended 1y against the flat portion of the bar, the support below said bearing part being extended outwardly from the bar to support a clothes hanger in advance of and wholly spaced from said bar, and a garment hanger having a hook terminal to overlie and embrace the hook terminal of the support of both sides of the bar.
