Patented F eb. 12, 1924.
PAUL E. CORRUBIA, or ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI.
TOY DOLL.
Application filed June 15, 1922.
To all whomit may concern:
Be it known that I, PAUL E. CORRUBIA, a citizen of the United States, residing at St. Louis, in the county of St. Louis and State of'Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Toy Dolls, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to dolls and has for its object to provide a doll, in a manner as hereinafter set forth, with means whereby, the arms, legs and head of the body, can be adjusted or moved to any position desired, lij'esambling the movement of the human A further object of the invention is to provide a doll, as hereinafter set forth, with a series of coupling wires and rotary sockets, so set up with respect to the elements of the body, whereby the arms and limbs of the body as well as the head, can be conveniently shifted or moved to various positions when desired.
Further objects of the invention are to provide a doll which is simple in its con struction and arrangement, strong, durable, conveniently adjusted, readily assembled and comparatively inexpensive to manufacture.
With the foregoing and other objects in view, the invention consists of the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts, as hereinafter more specifically described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein is shown an embodiment of the invention, but it is to be understood that changes, variations and modifications can be resorted to which come within the scope of the claims hereunto appended.
In the drawings wherein like reference characters denote corresponding parts throughout the several views Figure 1 is an elevation of a doll in accordance with this invention, coupling Wires being shown in dotted line, extended through the element of the body.
Figure 2 is a vertical sectional view of the doll.
The doll can be constructed of any suitable material and the facial features may be made to resemble those of any person, and referring to the drawings in detail, 1 denotes the body portion provided with curved seats 2, 3, at the shoulder 4. and further provided with curved seats 5, 6, at the hips. Each of the arms consists of a forearm section 7 l'iaving a curved seat 8, an upper arm Serial No. 568,448.
section 9 having curved seat 10 at its upper end and a curved seat 11 at its lower end.
Each arm has a hand element 12. The seat 8 opposes the seat 11 and the seatslO oppose the seats 2 and 3. Mountedagainst the seats 10 and the seats 2, 3,,are globular members 13 and mounted against the seats 8, 11, are globular members 14:. The seats 2, 3, 10 in connection with the members 13 form shoulder sockets and the seats 8, 11, in connection with the members 14:, provide elbow sockets. Each of the hand elements has an attaching member 15. i
The element or sections of the arms, together with the socket elements associated with the arms, are connected together and to the body 1 by a pair of bendable adjusting coupling wires 16, 17, one for each arm and each ofsaid wires has its outer end connected to an attaching member15, whereby the hand element 12 is connected to the forearm 7, and each of said coupling wires extend centrally of the hand element 12', forearm 7, member 14, upper arm 9, centrally of and at an angle through the member 13 into the upper portion of the body 1, then down through the body 1, in close proximity to the center thereof, projects from the lower end of the body 1 and is attached to a terminal plate 18.
Each of the legs consists of a lower section 19 and an upper section 20 and at the lower end of the section 19 is arranged a foot element 21. The upper end of the section 20 has a curved seat 22 which opposes the seat 5, and the lower end of the section 20 has a curved seat 23 whichoppos-es the curved seat 24: at the upper end of the section 19. Mounted against and between the seats 22 is a globular member and interposed between the sections 19 and 20 and bearing against the seats 23, 2 is a globular member 26. The members 25 in connection with the seats 5 and 22 provide hip sockets, and
the member 26 in connection with the seats 23. 24, form knee sockets.
Each of the sections 19 near its lower end has an eye 27 to which is attached a coupling member 28 carried by the foot element 21 and arranged centrally of said element whereby the. latter is shiftily connected to the section 19. The sections of each of the legs and the members 25, 26 are connected together and to the body portion 1 by bendable adjusting coupling wires 29, 30. Each of these wires is attached at its outer or lower end to an eye 27 and extends centrally from the sections 19 and 20 and the mem bers 26. Each of the wires 29, 30, extends centrally through the members 25 in one direction for about halfol said members and then at right angles as at 31 into the lower portion of body 1, and then down to the body 1 projecting therefrom and secured to the terminal plate.
The top or the body 1 is formed with a socket 32 in which is seated the neck 33, the latter provided with a head 34. Extending centrally of the head 34, down through the neck 33 andcentrally of and through the body portion 1 is a bendable adjusting coupling wire 35 which has its lower end secured to the anchoring plate 18.
The arms and limbs of the sections there of, are made to move by twisting or turning any partthereofin any manner whatsoever.
What I claim is:
1. In a doll a body portion having seat at the shoulder and hip portion thereof, a sectional arm having a seat opposing the said 'seat at the shoulder of the said body portion, a sectional leg having seat opposing the seat at the hip oi. said body portion, a globular member interposed between the shoulder seat and arm seat, a globular mem- 0 ber interposed between the hip seat and the leg seat, means to provide said arm with an elbow socket, means to provide said leg with a knee socket, bendable adjusting coupling wires extending through said leg, arm, socket, members and body portion and a terminal plate having. said wires attached thereto, said plate arranged exteriorly of the body portion.
2. In a doll a body portion having seat at the shoulder and hip portion thereof, a sectional arm having a seat opposing the said seat at the shoulder of the said bod portion, a sectional leg having a'seatoppos ing the seat at the hip of said body portion, a globular member interposed between the shoulder seat and, arm seat, a globular member interposed between the hip seatand the leg seat, means to provide said arm with an elbow socket, means to provide said leg with a knee socket, bendable adjusting coupling wires extending through said leg, arm, socket members and body portion, a terminal plate having said wires attached thereto, said plate arranged exteriorly of the body portion, a shift-able head positioned against body portion and a. bendable adjusting coupling wire extending through the head and body portion and connected to said plate.
In testimony whereof, affix my signature hereto.
