ADJUSTABLE DOLL.
Application tiled August 3, 1925.
My invention relates to mechanical dolls and one object is to provide a doll ot this character in which the neck, arms and legs are so jointed that they may be adjusted to 5 various positions.
A further object is to provide a doll ot' substantial construction and whichis not liable to break or get out ot order when subjected to rough usage.
In order that the invention may be 'tuliy understood, reference will now be had to the accompanying drawing, in which: Fig. 1 is a iront elevation ot the doll. Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the doll. Referring now in detail to the various parts, 2 designates a suitable body which is surmounted by a head d mounted upon a pivot 6, so that it may be turned in either direction in a horizontal plane.
8 designates an element in the `l'orm ot a bolt extending transversely through the upper portion of the body 2 and provided at one end with a head 10 and at its opposite threaded end with a thumb nut 12.
14 designates a pair of adjustable arms each oi which consists oi' an upper chamber 16, a pair ot intermediate members 18, and a lower member having a hand 22 at its lower terminal. The upper member 16 is spaced from the. body 2 by a washer' 17 and swiveled upon the bolt 8, so that it may swing in either direction in a vertical piane. The upper member 15 is provided at its lower portion with a tongue 24 extending between the upper ends or' the intermediate members 18 which are adjustably connected to said tongue 2O by a pivot 26. The lower member 2O is provided at its upper end with a tongue 28 extending between the lower ends of the intermediate members 18 to which it is adjustably connected by a pivot 30.
32 designates an element in the 'forni oi a bolt extending transversely through the i5 lower portion of the body 2.
34 designates a pair of adjustable legs each of which consists oi an upper member 36, an intermediate member 38, and a lower member l0 provided at its lower end with a toot 42.
The upper member 36-is swiveled upon the transverse element 32, which is provided at one end with a hea-d la and at its opposite threaded end with a thumb nut Llo which Serial No. 47,843.
connected together and to the body 2 in the manner described, it is apparent that the legs may be adjusted to various positions so that said body 2 may be adjusted either 'to a standing or a sitting posture.
`'lihe pivots 26, 30, 50 and 52 are preien ably equipped with nuts so that they may be tightened to take up wear of the associate parts and hold the same in trictional Contact, so that they will remain in their adjusted positions.
The doll may be clothed in any suitable manner, but as the clothes form no part oi the invention they have been omitted in order to better disclose the mechanical teatures above described and which constitute the present invention.
While l have shown and described the preferred construction, combination and arrangement of parts, l reserve the right to make such changes and modifications thereof as properly fall within the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.
Having thus described my invention, what l cla-im and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
1. A doll consisting oiE a body, legs to said body, a head surmounting said body, a pair of arms each consisting ott an upper member provide-d with a tongue, a pair oit intermediate members oper-ably connected Ito said tongue, and a lower member having hand at one end and a tongue at its oppo` site end operably connected to the two intermediate members; a bolt extending transversely through the upper portion of the body and the upper portion ot said arms, and a thumb-nut threaded upon one end of said bolt.
2. A doll consisting of a body, a head adjustably mounted on said body, a pair oi arms connected to the upper portion of said body, a pair ot legs each consisting of an loo THF)
upper member having a bit'ureatecl lower end, an intermediate member having a tongue at its upper end operably Connected to the bifuroted end of the upper member, 5 and a, lower member having a foot at its lower end and operably connected at its .upper enel to the intermediate member; a bolt extending through the lower portion of the bocly and the upper members of said legs, and a thumb nut threaded upon one end of 10 said bolt.
In testimony whereof aix my signature.
MRS. CLARA MCPHEETERS.
