FAR-OPENER...
The nature and advantages of the inven-` tion will be better understood when the following detail description is taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, the invention residing in the construction, combination, and arrangement ol parts as claimed.
In the drawings'torming part of this specitication, like numerals of reference indicate similar parts in the several views and wherein zl `Figure l is a view in elevation of the tool constructed in accordance with the invention.
Fig. 2 is a view showing the manner of using the tool,
The tool forming the subject matter of my invention comprises'a pair of crossedhandles 10 and 11 respectively which handles are `pivoted as at 12, each handle being extended to provide a 'jaw 13. The jaws terminate to provide inwardly directed lugs or extensionsv 14, each of which is substantially wedge-shaped in cross section. The jaws are susceptible of movement toward and away from each other to accommodate the tool to jars of different sizes, while the tooll itself may be construct. I, from any suitable material. In practice, the jar to be opened is arranged between,` the jaws 13, in a manner whereby the lugs or extensions 14 are a1'- ranged at diametrically opposite points of the cover A Speclcatton of Letters Patent.

gasket il. A slight pressure upon the handles l0 and ll to move the jaws toward each other, gently iorces the wedges under the cover A to permit oli the admittance of air beneath the cover to facilitate its removal. Each ofthe jaws 13 is provided at spaced points with lugs 15 which lie in a plane above the extensions M, the lugs 15 of the respective jaws engaging the cover `A at diametrically opposite points to Jfacilitate the removal of the cover after the extensions 14: have been wedged under the lower, edge ot the cover.
While I have shown andV described what I consider the preferred embodiment of the invention, I desire to have it understood that I do not limit myself in this connection and that such changes may be resorted to tance of air to the cover for the purpose specified.
2. A fruit jar opener comprising a tool including crossed pivotal handles, jaws carried bythe handles and movable toward and away from each other, there being substantiallyiwedge shaped extensions constituting the terminals of said jaws and adapted to be forced between the cover and the gasket 4therefor to provide for the admittance of air to the cover, and lugs carried by the jaws 4to engage the cover at diametrically opposite points for the purpose specified.
In testimony whereof I aitix my signature.v
