H. H. ENTZ. TROUSERS. APPLICATION FILED JUNE 17. ms.
INVENTOR ATTORNEY a Patented Nov. 23, 1920.
HARVEY H. ENTZ, or LEESBURG, FLORIDA.
rnousnns.
Specification of Letters Patent. I
Patented Nov. 23, 1920.
Application filed June 17, 1918. Serial No. 240,466.
T 0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HARVEY HQ ENTZ, a citizen of the United States, residing at Leesburg, in the county of Lake and State of Florida, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Trousers, of-whichthe-following is a specification.
The invention has for its principal objectto preserve creases in garments intended to maintain a fold or crease.
In its specific application the invention is intended for trousers so as to preserve the crease lines in the front and in the rear of the leg members.
In accordance with the present invention thematerial is woven in a manner so that the portion intended to present the creases or fold is made thicker than the remaining portion, the purpose being to ,preserve the crease line, and also to withstand the strain to which the crease line portion is subjected. t
It is a matter of common knowledge that trousers bag at the knees aftera comparatively short period of service. This is due chiefly to the strain on the .fabric when the latter is stretched when the leg is bent, when in a sitting posture. To give the trousers a neat andtidy appearance it is necessary to have the same tailored or pressed at frequent intervals.
The present invention relates chiefly to the method whereby the fabric during the process of weaving is thickened along the crease line, whereby the same is enabled to withstand strain and thereby prevent bagging at the knee and at the same time preserving the crease line and obviating the necessity for frequent pressing.
The drawing illustrates a preferred embodiment of the invention, however, it is to be understood that in adapting the same to meet different conditions, various changesin the form, proportion, and minor details of construction may be resorted to without departing from the nature of the invention as claimed hereinafter.
- In the drawing L Figure l-is afront' view of a pair of trousers embodying the invention,
Fig. 2 is a sectional view of a portion of fabric woven in accordance with this in- "vention',
Fig. 3-is a transverse section of a trousers leg on the line 3-3 of Fig. 1, showing the parts on a larger scale.
Corresponding and like parts are referred to in the following description and indicated in the several views of .the drawing by like reference characters.
Inasmuch as the invention is peculiarly adapted for trousers it is shown applied in this connection, and in Fig. 1 the letter A designates a pair of trousers of ordinary construction but provided with crease portions embodying the invention. The troul sers are constructed of material embodying the invention and a portion of such material is indicated inv Fig. 2 in which 1 represents the material and 2 a thickened portion, which corresponds with the crease line 3 of the trousers.
During the weaving of the fabric 1. a narrow portion thereof is made considerably thicker as indicated-at 2 and this thickened portion coincides with the crease or fold of the trousers or other garment formed from the fabric. It is to be understood that the fabric is woven with especial reference to its particular use so that unusual waste will be prevented in the forming of the garment from the fabric. As iswell known the leg "members of trousers are provided with front and rear creasesas indicated at 3 in Fig. 3. The present invention contem- Iplates having the leg members of the trousers thickened along the crease lines 3 so as to maintain the crease lines and preserve a neatand tidy appearance to the garment.
Trousers have the front portions subjected to unusual strain when in service,
this being due to the stretching of the fabric over the knee when the leg is bent. By thickening the crease line portion the trousers leg is reinforced so as to withstand the strain, and as a result the crease line is maintained. I
The foregoing description and'the drawings have reference to what may be considered the preferred, or approved, form of my invention. It is to be understood that I may make such changes in construction and arrangement and combination of parts, materials, dimensions, et cetera, as may prove expedient and fall within the scope of the appended claims.
Having thus fully described my inven- 2. As a new article of manufacture, trou' tion. what I claim as new and desire to sers having the crease lines of the leg memsecure by Letters Patent is hers woven thicker than the remaining por- 10 l. A garment having its fold or crease tion of the fabric.

the fabric \voven thicker along a line 00in ciding with the said fold or crease. I .HARVEY H. ENTZ.
