IMPROVEMENT IN SEWING MACHlNE CASTERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 115,779, dated June 6, 1871.

This invention refers to an improvement in sewing-machine casters; and it consists of a frame or other suitable contrivauce, having thumb or set screws, in combination with shoes or receptacles supplied with casters,
' substantially as hereinafter described and claimed.
To enable others to make and use our invention, we will now proceed to describe it.
A in the annexed drawing refers to a frame, constructed in a tasteful and ornamental style, such as is shown in the drawing, or in any other desired configuration or style, and in form of a rectangular or other suitable shape. B B refer to shoes or receptacles which receive the feet of the sewing-machine, or other article of furniture to be supported, while being transported from place to place. These shoes are supplied at their inner ends with arms or shanks I), having recesses 11 constructed upon the lower side of their elevated portions, and elongated longitudinal slots 1) 12' cut in their straight portions, as plainly shown in Fig. 2 of the drawing. 0 (3 refer to screwbolts, which pass up through and are held within apertures made in the frame A, at its corners, and enter the slots b b cut in the arms b b of the shoes B B, and provided with nuts or thuinb-pieces c c, by means of which they may be tightened or loosened in order that the said shoes may be secured to or relieved from the said frame. By means of the slots]; 12 out in the arms b b of the shoes B B the latter can be brought nearer or placed further from the frame A, whereby they may be adapted to receive the feet of articles of furniture various distances apart. D refers to a cast-er fastened within the recess b of the arm of the shoe B B, as shown in Fig. 2, and of which there are four, the other three being attached to the remaining three shoes B B.

The frame or support A, in combination with the shoes B b, slotted for adjustment upon the frame, as shown, and casters D, substantially as shown, and for the purpose set forth.
