IMPROVEMENT IN CHAIR-ROCKERS.
I I Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 145,036, dated November 25, 1873; application filed August 7, 1873.

Figure 1 of the drawings is a representation of a chair-rocker with my improvement attached. Fig. 2 is a sectional view of the same.
taken through the line J K of Fig. 1.
My invention has relation to chair-rockers; and consists in the construction of a metallic T-shaped rocker, having at one of the upper edges a flange to receive a metallic socket prevents cutting or injuring the carpets. On the upper edge of the rib c of the rocker, and on one side only, is rigidly fastened a flange, b, forming the tongue, extending any desirable distance, for the purpose of receiving the legs of chair of different distance apart. 1.) represents the rear socket, designed to be adjustable, attached to the chair-leg in the ordinary manner. This socket is provided with a slot corresponding to the rib c and flange I), cut through and extending upward, forming the groove or channel I), as fully shown in Fig. 2. The socket thus constructed is passed over the rear end of the rocker and flange, and secured at any intermediate point on said flange.
The front socket O of the chair-leg is designed to be stationary, and fastened to the rocker by means of screw-bolts.
We claim as our invention- The metallic rocker A, consisting of the wide bearing-strip a, central rib c, and flange b on the upper edge, adapted to receive the adjustable socket D, as specified.
