Toall whom it may concern.

Be it known that I, ROBERT J ORDAN` RoBEnTs-Of the city ofNew York, in the county and State of New York, have invented a new and improved Drawer;

and I'do hereby declare that the following isa full,

Figure 2 is a plan or top view of the same.

This invention has for its object-to improve theI construction Ot' drawersthat are used in stores, warehouses, &c., so that the same may serre to display the goods ot' which they are the receptacles.

.llle invention ronsistsinproviding the drawer' with a glass O'r transparent t'ront, and with a plate behind said glass, on which samples oi' the goods contained in the drawer may be displayed and-protected.

At present, drawers are generally made with opaque faces, sam ples of the goods in them being at'- iixed to the ontsides of the saune, and thereby exf posed to the air, dust, and moisture. The specimens are consequently injured in color or quality and soon cease to correctly represent the contents of the drawers.

Another plan is to have, besides the drawers, show'- cases maden-ith glass sides and tops, wherein only the specimens are. contained, thego'ods being kept in separate drawers or shelves. l This plan is expensive and inconvenient, as it requires the use of two recep- -taeleswhere one is sufficient.

My inyention serves to Overcome the 'stated diculties,and to combine a drawer-and show-case so that samples and goods are kept together and still'. properly' separated.

Its face, a, is made of` glass or other transparent substance.

b is a plate, fitted, preferably, in an inclined position into the drawer, a short distance behind the glass. rIhis plate serves as a support for the samples of' goods to be displayed through the glass front, and also as a partition` between the goods contained in the drawer and the lsaid samples thereof'.

The face a is notneocssarily vmade transparent throughout its wholelength;.only a portion of it` need be made of glass, in which `case the support b need he but equally short. For small goods, a small pane of glass i-u the face of the drawer will be suliciont.
