IMPROVEMENT lNySHOW-CASES AND COUNTERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 1|6,564, dated July 4, 1871.
To all Iwhom 'it may concern:
Be it known that I, NVILLIAM COOPER, J r., of Mexico, in the county ot' Oswego and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Detachable Show-Case and Counter; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming part of this specification.
The present invention relates to a new and use ful improvement in the construction of a coinbined detachable show-case and counter, the object of which is to have the top oi' the counter transparent, so as to exhibit the goods contained in sectional drawers suitably arranged in slides directly under the same, and secured thereto so that the whole top forming the shownase and counter may be moved bodily in case of lire, &c., the construction of which will be fully understood from the following description Figure l represents a plan of my combined show-case and coun-ter. Fig. 2 is a rear elevation ofthe saine.

In the case here presented, A represents one or more sheets of plate-glass set iiush with the frame so as to form an unbroken plane from end to end of the counter, thus forming a transparent top for the counter, so as to exhibit the goods contained in the drawers B, which slide under the same.
The above-describiul combined showcase and counter is made sepa-rate from the base or standard C, which supports it, and is attached thereto by suitable bolts or hooks l), and held firm, so that it cannot be moved sidewise, by pins E, which extend from the aforesaid standard C and enter corresponding holes prepared for their reception in the under side ofthe counter-frame.
Having thus described my invention I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The combined detachable show-case and counter, provided with drawers and a t 1a-nsparent top, and set on dowel-pins E, whereby it is prevented i'rom being moved laterally, as specified.
