Description

A. D. SWOGGER. BAG HOLDER.
No. 110,511. Patented Dec. 27,1870.-

can $iatw ALFRED D. SWOGGER, .OF WORTH, PENNSYLVANIA.-
Letters Patent No, 110,511, dated December 27,1870.
IMPROVEMENT IN BAG-HOLDERS.
The Schedule referred to ln these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To all whom. it may concern.-
Be it known that I, ALFRED D..SWO GGER, of \Vorth, in the county of Mercer and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and improved Bag- Holder; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being'had to the accompanying drawing forming part of this specification, in which- Fignre 1 represents a side elevation of my improved bagholder.
Figure 2 is a vertical section of .the same, a; x, fig. 1, being thesection line.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
I This invention relates to. a new bag-holder, which is made vertically extensible, so that it can be used.
to fill bags of diflerent lengths.
The invention consists in making the frame of the holderextensible, and in providing pawls or catches for locking it at suitable length.
A in the drawing represents the lower part of the frame of my improved bag-holder.
B is the upper part of the frame.
The lower ii'ame A-is provided with four, more or less, posts or standards, a, which are connected by suitable horiz ntal or other braces, and which support the inclined flooring b. The frame A is open in front, 110., not provided with top cross-pieces, to allo the ready removal of the filled bag.
The posts a c of the upper frame are fitted to slide against the posts a, and are, by metal straps (l, on the latter, held in contact with the same. The uppert'rame canthns be moved up and down at will, and is locked by a pawl or catch, 2, fitting; against the notched edge of one of the posts, 0, or equivalent locking mechanism. The hopper j, formed on the upper frame, has pins or hooks g, for holding the upper part of the bag.
It is evident that, when the bag has been secured up to the frame B, the same can be readily moved up or down, so as to bring the bottom oi the hagjo rest just on the floor b, as indicated inth n-2. The
device is therefore applicable to all kinds of bags,
described.
