This invention relates to new and useful improvements in insoles for shoes.
- The object of the invention is to provide a device of this type which is instrumental in producing a sensation of warmth to the feet of the wearer.
Referring to the accompanying drawings,
Figure 1 is a top plan view of my improvedinsole with-parts broken away; and Fig. 2 is a section on the line a-a of Fig. 1.

Referring more partlcularly to the drawings, 1 represents a layer of pervious mateor cotton fabric. The insole, of which 1 is or bottom layer 3 of impervious material such as leather or rubber. The insole is formed of laminations, and the pile thus constructed is out into suitable shapes so that they may be easily worn in the shoe. The upper layer 1 comes in contact with the sole of the foot. To create a sensation of warmth a suitable" chemical irritating medlum such as a layer 4 is provided. This last named layer is formed of Cayenne pepper or capsicum and is interposed between the upper and lower layers 1 and 3. The capsicum is preferably mixed with wool and united by any suitable form of binder such as an antiseptic adhesive. When the insole is in use, the moisture from the feet is sufficient to dissolve a portion of the active prin ciple of the chemical irritant which comes in contact with the sole of the foot when the fabric 1 becomes moistened. The effect of the capsicum will be to draw the blood of the body to the feet thereby producing a sensation of warmth. I
Having described my invention, I claim.
1. An insole comprising an upper layer of pervious material, a lower, layer of impervious material, and a layer interposed between said upper and lower layers and a constituent of which is capsicum.
2. An insole,,comprising an upper layer of pervious material, av lower layer of im-' pervious. material, and an intermediate layer of chemical irritant material consisting of capsicum, wool and a suitable binder.
