IMPROVEMENT IN BROOCH-FASTENINGS.

The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making peut of the same To all whom it may concern.-

This invention consists in the arrangement of i bell-shaped slot, with npwardly-fluring edges, in the back piatte of :t brooch, in combination with pins or projections at or neer the circumference of snd bock plate, in such u manner that, by nlcnns of said bellshnped slot, the brooclrcun he readily slipped orern huttolnund thus attached to the neek-bzuid or i'r'ontl,

In the buck plate of this brooch I nlnkc zr bellshaped slot, (l, the edges of which are Ilm-ing outward and upward, so that thc same will readily catch over a button, which is fastened to the shirt or dress to which the brooch is to be attached.

To the back plete ot' seid. brooch are .secured pins or projections, b, which serve to determine the correct position of the brooch in attaching the some, and which, after the brooch has been fastened to its button, hear upon thc surf-,ice ot' the garment to which the brooch is attached, thereby preventing it from turning and becoming detached spontaneously.

It is obvious thnt the brooch cnn be made in any desirable forni or shape, plain or -ornmnentnh to suit the toste ot' the public. 1
