.To all whom 'it may concern:

Be it known that we, LINDLEY M. RossITnR, a citizen of the United States, and THOMAS C. BREW, a subject of the King of England, residing at Olathe, in the county of Montrose and State of Colorado, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in a Combined Scrubber and Mop; and we do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which forma part of this specification.

This invention relates to new and useful improvements in combined scrubbers and mops, and comprises a simple and eflicient device of this nature, having various details of construction and combinations and arrangements of parts which will be hereinafter fully described, shown in the accom: panying drawings and then specifically defined in the appended claims.

We illustrate our invention in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure l is a side elevation of the invention, showing in dotted lines the positions that the parts assume. F ig. 2 is a sectional view longitudinally through a pad and covering therefor, and Fig. 3 is an end view.

Reference now being had to the details of the drawings by letter, A designates the handle of the mop, having an angled metallic frame B fastened thereto upon one angle of which a scrub brush C is adapted to be fastened and to the other a pad D adapted to be saturated with water and over which a mop cover F is adapted to be fastened in any suitable manner, as by means of straps F', and as shown clearly in the drawings. The ends of the wings of said frame are held to the handle by means of the braces K which serve to hold the brush and pad rigidly in fixed positions.

A strap O surrounds the handle and its ends are held together by means of a bolt O passing through registering slots therein and which bolt serves as means for clamping the strap frictionally against the handle to hold said strap in an adjusted position. A lever, designated by letter Q, is pivotally mounted upon said bolt and is bent at an angle at Q and has two series of perforations, designated respectively by letters J l and J. The perforations J are adapted to receive one end of the spring M, the other end of which is fastened to an eye G which is fastened to the handle. By adjusting the end of the spring in one or another of the perforations provided for its reception, it will be noted that the tension of the spring may be regulated. Arms, designated by letter L, are pivotally connected at corresponding ends to a pin L which may be adjustably held in one or another of the perforations J and their lower ends are j ournaled to the pintles projecting from the opposite ends of the roller S. A bail-shaped member S has ends which are pivotally mounted upon said pintles, and springs, designated by letter T, are fastened at their inner ends to said bail-shaped member and their outer ends are fastened in the notched ends of the bail-shaped member W, which latter is adapted to be held in adjusted position upon the braces which secure the scrub brush to the handle by means of the pins V, passing through registering apertures in said braces. A cord is adapted to be fastened to the free end of the lever and forming means for causing the roller to be drawn over the pad and its cover.

In operation, the parts normally assume the positions shown in solid lines. When it is desired to cause water to be forced from the pad, the operator by pulling upon the cord may cause the lever to swing upon its pivot and the arms connected to the lever cause the roller to roll over the cover under pressure of the springs which, as the lever swings, will cause the roller to bear with pressure against the pad and press out water therefrom. As the operator releases his pull upon the cord, the springs will return the roller to its normal position.

It will be noted that, by the provision of a mop embodying the features of our invention, a scrub brush and mop are rcombined in one article and so arranged that the cover may be replaced when desired and water caused to be forced from the pad when desired for scrubbin purposes.

Vhat we claim to e new is 1. A combined scrub brush and mop comprising an angled frame, a handle fastened thereto, a scrub brush upon one angle of the' frame and a pad upon the other, a covering for the pad, a lever mounted upon the handle and a yieldably mounted roller connected to the lever for movement thereby and adapted to press Water out of the pad as it is moved over the same, as set forth.

2. A combined scrub brush and mop comprising an angled frame, a handle fastened thereto, a scrub brush upon one angle of the frame and a pad upon the other, a covering for the pad, a lever pivoted to the handle, a roller having spindle ends, arms journaled upon said spindle ends and pivoted to the lever, a spring connecting said lever and handle, and a. bail-shaped member having pivotal connections with the spindles of the roller and yieldably connected to frame, as set forth.
