EDWARD F. PETTIBONE, OF LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA.
MOJ? ANDlCLOTH WRINGER.
Specificatioh of Letters Patent.
Patented Nov. 5, 1907.
Application filed August 15. 1905. Serial No. 274,328.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EDWARD F. PETTIBONE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Los Angeles, in the county of Los Angeles and State of California, have in vented new and useful Improvements in Mop and Cloth Wringers, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to portable means which may be inserted in a bucket or tub for wringing out the mop cloth or for wringing out a floor cloth or other cloth; and the object thereof is to provide a wringer which may be used in place of the hands for wringing out mop or other cloths.
I accomplish this object by the device described herein and illustrated in the accompanying drawings in which Figure 1is a perspective view of my wringer removed irom the vessel. Fig. 2is a section on the line 22 of Fig. 1 looking in the direction of the arrow with my device in a vessel of square shape. Fig.3is a detail of a portion of the bail and an end view of the roller carried thereby. Fig. 4 is a plan of the vessel and wringer.
In the drawings the side pieces 4 and 5 are joined at the bottom by the cross bar 6 and at the top by the cross board 7 which are rigidly secured to the back of the side pieces. A wire bail S is pivotally secured to the side pieces by straps 9 and 10, which straps are fastened'to the side pieces either by nails or screws as desired. This bail projects to the front of the side pieces and in the free end thereof is mounted a roller 11. A handle 12 which projects in front of the roller is secured to the bail so that the same may be moved thereby. A second roller 13 is mounted in bearings 14 and 15 secured to the side pieces as best shown in Fig. 1. This last roller is mounted near the top of the side pieces at a point to be engaged by the first roller when the same is brought to the position shown in Fig. 2, which will be the position that the roller is in when it is desired to squeeze the water out of the mop cloth or other cloth, not shown, which will be between the rollers and pressure will be put thereon by the operator grasping the handle 12 and pulling roller 11 toward roller 13 with one hand at the same time that he pulls the mop cloth or other cloth between the two rollers. To the back of the top board and in the center thereof is hinged a detention bar 16 which at its lower end is provided with a foot projection 16 upon which the operator places her foot to hold the device in the tub 17. I have shown this tub as square in form, but my device'may be used with a round tub or bucket. The handle and bail are preferably made of heavy wire.
Having described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
A mop wringer comprising a frame;.a roller mounted in hearings secured to said frame near the top thereof; a bail secured to said frame below said top roller; a roller mounted in said bail; a handle secured to said bail; and a detention bar secured to said frame at the top thereof, said detention bar having a foot piece on the bottom thereof and being connected to the frame by a hinge.
In witness that I claim the foregoingI have hereunto subscribed my name this 9th day of August, 1905.
EDWARD F. PETTIBONE.
Witnesses G. E. HARPHAM, HENRY T. HAZARD.
