Description

液晶顯示裝置
本發明係關於一種液晶顯示裝置,特別是一種具有減少晶片尺寸且提高靜電放電能力之驅動電路之液晶顯示裝置。
靜電屏蔽單元的靜電放電能力取決於靜電放電電晶體的尺寸。靜電放電電晶體的尺寸越大,靜電放電率越高。然而,很難在有限的核心區域上增加靜電放電電晶體的尺寸。因此,在習知技術中,靜電放電單元的靜電放電能力很差,導致無法在短時間週期內為高電壓靜電放電。
因此,本發明提供一種液晶顯示裝置。
本發明之目的在於提供一種液晶顯示裝置,其中複數個靜電放電電晶體彼此連接於邏輯單元的虛擬區域中以減少晶片尺寸,以及相對程度地提高驅動電路單元的靜電放電能力。
本發明其他的優點、目的和特徵將在如下的說明書中部分地加以闡述,並且本發明其他的優點、目的和特徵對於本領域的普通技術人員來說,可以透過本發明如下的說明得以部分地理解或者可以從本發明的實踐中得出。本發明的目的和其它優點可以透過本發明所記載的說明書和申請專利範圍中特別指明的結構並結合圖式部份,得以實現和獲得。
為了獲得本發明的這些目的和其他特徵,現對本發明作具體化和概括性的描述,本發明的一種液晶顯示裝置包含:液晶面板,用以顯示影像;以及驅動電路單元,用以驅動液晶面板,其中驅動電路單元包含:輸入/輸出單元,包含用以從外部接收訊號之複數個輸入單元以及用以發送訊號至外部之複數個輸出單元;邏輯單元,包含複數個邏輯單元胞,各自包含複數個數位邏輯元件,以透過該輸入/輸出單元接收或發送訊號;以及靜電屏蔽單元,用以保護該等數位邏輯元件避免外部靜電,其中靜電屏蔽單元的某些部件係形成於這些邏輯單元胞間的空間中。
靜電屏蔽單元包含靜電感測單元,用以感測其中引入的靜電;以及靜電放電單元,用以根據靜電感測單元的感測結果將透過電源供應線引入的電壓放電至接地終端。
靜電放電單元包含彼此並行連接的複數個靜電放電電晶體,其中這些靜電放電電晶體至少其一係形成於邏輯單元胞之間的空間中。
靜電放電電晶體係並行連接於電源供應線與接地終端之間。
靜電放電電晶體的閘電極連接靜電感測單元,靜電放電電晶體的汲電極連接電源供應線,以及靜電放電電晶體的源電極連接接地終端。
靜電感測單元包含:電阻器,係連接於電源供應線與節點間;電容器,係連接於節點與接地終端間;以及反向器,係連接於節點與靜電放電電晶體之閘電極間。
驅動電路單元係為資料驅動積體電路,用以供應畫素電壓至液晶顯示裝置之資料線。
驅動電路單元係為時序控制器,用以控制資料驅動積體電路之作業,以供應畫素電壓至液晶顯示裝置之資料線。
邏輯單元與靜電屏蔽單元係形成於輸入/輸出單元所圍繞的核心區域處。
邏輯單元胞間的空間係為用於放置虛擬單元胞之虛擬區域,用以調整邏輯單元之圖案密度,靜電屏蔽單元的某些部件代替虛擬單元胞形成於虛擬區域中。
可以理解的是,如上所述的本發明之概括說明和隨後所述的本發明之詳細說明均是具有代表性和解釋性的說明,並且是為了進一步揭示本發明之申請專利範圍。
現在將結合圖式部份對本發明的較佳實施方式作詳細說明。其中在這些圖式部份中所使用的相同的參考標號代表相同或同類部件。
「第1圖」所示係為本發明較佳實施例之液晶顯示裝置之示意圖。
請參考「第1圖」,液晶顯示裝置包含液晶面板PN、複數個閘極驅動積體電路GD-IC、時序控制器TC、來源打印電路板S-PCB以及複數個資料驅動積體電路DD-IC。液晶面板PN用以顯示影像。閘極驅動積體電路GD-IC用以連接液晶面板PN一側與閘極捲帶式封裝G-TCP(gate tape carrier package),並且閘極驅動積體電路GD-IC用以連接液晶面板PN之閘極線GL一側。時序控制器TC產生用以驅動閘極驅動積體電路GD-IC與資料驅動積體電路DD-IC所需的各種控制訊號。來源打印電路板S-PCB其中裝設有時序控制器。資料驅動積體電路DD-IC用以供應畫素電壓至液晶面板PN上的資料線DL。
液晶面板PN包含顯示部DP與非顯示部,其中顯示部DP其上形成有複數個畫素,非顯示部形成於顯示部DP周邊。
這種情況下,每一資料驅動積體電路DD-IC被裝設至資料捲帶式封裝D-TCP(data tape carrier package),資料捲帶式封裝D-TCP連接液晶面板PN至來源打印電路板S-PCB。
透過使用從系統接收的水平同步訊號、垂直同步訊號以及時脈訊號,時序控制器TC產生一資料控制訊號,並且供應此資料控制訊號至資料驅動積體電路DD-IC與閘極驅動積體電路GD-IC。此資料控制訊號包含點時脈、來源位移時脈、來源賦能時脈、極性反向訊號等等。
時序控制器TC以及用以驅動液晶面板PN之閘極驅動積體電路GD-IC與資料驅動積體電路DD-IC之驅動電路單元具有以下配置。
「第2圖」所示係為驅動電路單元之詳細示意圖。
請參考「第2圖」,驅動電路單元DRC包含輸入/輸出單元I/O、邏輯單元LG以及靜電屏蔽單元ESD。邏輯單元LG與靜電屏蔽單元ESD形成於輸入/輸出單元I/O所圍繞的核心區域處。
輸入/輸出單元I/O包含用以從外部接收訊號之複數個輸入單元以及用以發送訊號至外部之複數個輸出單元。
邏輯單元LG包含複數個邏輯單元胞(logical cells),各自包含複數個數位邏輯元件,用以透過輸入/輸出單元I/O接收或發送訊號。
靜電屏蔽單元ESD用於保護數位邏輯元件以避免外部靜電。
這種情況下,靜電屏蔽單元ESD的某些部件形成於邏輯單元胞間的空間中。邏輯單元胞之間的空間係為虛擬區域(dummy areas),其中放置虛擬單元胞(dummy cells)以分別調整邏輯單元LG的圖案密度。本發明中,靜電屏蔽單元ESD的某些部件形成於虛擬區域中。就是說,本發明中,靜電屏蔽單元ESD的某些部件代替虛擬單元胞形成於虛擬區域處,從而調整邏輯單元LG的圖案密度,並且最終減少核心區域的尺寸以減少驅動電路單元DRC的尺寸。
請參考「第2圖」,靜電屏蔽單元ESD包含靜電感測單元ES與靜電放電單元ED。靜電感測單元ES用於感測從外部引入的靜電,靜電放電單元ED將其中透過電源供應線引入的靜電向接地終端放電。就是說,靜電感測單元ES用於感測透過電源供應線引入的電壓的大小,並且判定此電壓是否為正常電壓或者引入的靜電所導致的異常電壓。至於靜電感測單元ES的感測結果,如果電源供應線的電壓被判定為正常,則靜電放電單元ED不會作業。相應地,電源供應線的電壓被供應至邏輯單元LG。與此相反,至於靜電感測單元ES的感測結果,如果電源供應線的電壓被判定為異常,則靜電放電單元ED將電源供應線的電壓向接地終端放電,這樣電源供應線的電壓未被供應至邏輯單元LG。
「第3圖」所示係為靜電屏蔽單元ESD之詳細示意圖。
如圖所示,靜電屏蔽單元ESD包含靜電感測單元ES與靜電放電單元ED,其中靜電感測單元ES包含電阻器R、電容器C以及反向器INV,靜電屏蔽單元ESD包含至少一個靜電放電電晶體Tr_Dis。
電阻器R係連接於電源供應線VU與節點N之間,電容器C係連接於節點N與接地終端VL之間,反向器INV係連接於節點N與靜電放電電晶體Tr_Dis的閘電極之間。
如果電源供應線VU的電壓正常,因為節點N的電壓緩慢上升電阻器R與電容器C之時間常數,連接節點N的反向器INV發送0,令靜電放電電晶體Tr_Dis保持關閉狀態。依此,電源供應線VU的電壓被正常供應至邏輯單元。
與此相反,如果電源供應線VU中引入靜電,則會在相當短的時間週期內增加電源供應線VU的電壓,節點N的電壓也會迅速改變。然後,反向器INV發送1以回應節點N的電壓,從而相應地導通靜電放電電晶體Tr_Dis。然後,由此打開的靜電放電電晶體Tr_Dis在電源供應線VU與接地終端VL之間形成電流路徑,電壓透過此電流路徑從電源供應線VU被放電至接地終端VL。
靜電屏蔽單元ESD的靜電放電能力實質上取決於靜電放電電晶體Tr_Dis。靜電放電電晶體Tr_Dis的尺寸越大,靜電則放電越快。然而,很難在有限的核心區域內增加靜電放電電晶體Tr_Dis的尺寸。為了解決這個問題,本發明使用邏輯單元LG處形成的虛擬區域。
「第4圖」所示係為本發明較佳實施例之邏輯單元LG之示意圖。
請參考「第4圖」,邏輯單元LG包含複數個邏輯單元胞LC與虛擬區域DA。本發明中,複數個靜電放電電晶體Tr_Dis形成於虛擬區域DA處。這種情況下,靜電放電電晶體Tr_Dis的尺寸隨著虛擬區域DA的尺寸而改變。
各虛擬區域DA處的靜電放電電晶體Tr_Dis彼此並行連接。就是說,靜電放電電晶體Tr_Dis係並行連接於電源供應線VU與接地終端VL之間。詳細地,靜電放電電晶體Tr_Dis的閘電極共同連接反向器INV的輸出終端,靜電放電電晶體Tr_Dis的汲電極共同連接電源供應線VU,以及靜電放電電晶體Tr_Dis的源電極共同連接接地終端VL。
電源電壓VDD被供應至電源供應線VU,接地終端電壓VSS被供應至接地終端VL。接地終端電壓VSS可以為0[伏特]。
因此,透過在邏輯單元LG中虛擬區域DA處形成靜電放電電晶體Tr_Dis,本發明可減少核心區域的尺寸,以及透過彼此實質上連接複數個靜電放電電晶體Tr_Dis,本發明最終可改善靜電放電電晶體Tr_Dis之靜電放電單元ED的靜電放電能力。
本發明的驅動電路單元DRC可為時序控制器TC、閘極驅動積體電路GD-IC至少其一或資料驅動積體電路至少其一,其中透過應用上述結構至包含相對多個數位邏輯元件之時序控制器,實質上可減少驅動電路單元之晶片尺寸並且可提高靜電放電能力。
如前所述,本發明的液晶顯示裝置具有以下優點。
在邏輯單元中虛擬區域處形成複數個靜電放電電晶體允許減少核心區域的尺寸,最終彼此連接的複數個靜電放電電晶體可提高靜電放電電晶體的靜電放電單元的靜電放電能力。

  1. 一種液晶顯示裝置,包含一液晶面板,用以顯示一影像;以及一驅動電路單元,用以驅動該液晶面板,其中該驅動電路單元包含:一輸入/輸出單元,包含用以從外部接收訊號之複數個輸入單元以及用以發送訊號至外部之複數個輸出單元;一邏輯單元,包含複數個邏輯單元胞,各自包含複數個數位邏輯元件,以透過該輸入/輸出單元接收或發送訊號;以及一靜電屏蔽單元,用以保護該等數位邏輯元件避免一外部靜電,其中該靜電屏蔽單元的某些部件係形成於該等邏輯單元胞間的空間中;其中該等邏輯單元胞間的空間為虛擬區域,用於放置虛擬單元胞以調整該邏輯單元的圖案密度,以及該靜電屏蔽單元的某些部件係代替虛擬單元胞形成於虛擬區域中;其中該靜電屏蔽單元包含:一靜電感測單元,用以感測其中引入的靜電,以及一靜電放電單元,用以根據該靜電感測單元的感測 結果將透過一電源供應線引入的電壓放電至一接地終端;其中該靜電放電單元包含彼此並行連接的複數個靜電放電電晶體,其中該等靜電放電電晶體至少其一係形成於該等邏輯單元胞間的空間中;其中該靜電放電電晶體係並行連接於該電源供應線與該接地終端之間;該等靜電放電電晶體的複數個閘電極連接該靜電感測單元,該等靜電放電電晶體的複數個汲電極連接該電源供應線,以及該等靜電放電電晶體的複數個源電極連接該接地終端;其中該靜電感測單元包含:一電阻器,係連接於該電源供應線與一節點間,一電容器,係連接於該節點與該接地終端間,以及一反向器,係連接於該節點與該靜電放電電晶體之該等閘電極間,其中該等閘電極共同連接該反向器之一輸出終端;其中該靜電感測單元係形成於該邏輯單元之外部。
  2. 如請求項第1項所述之液晶顯示裝置,其中該驅動電路單元係 為資料驅動積體電路,用以供應畫素電壓至該液晶顯示裝置之資料線。
  3. 如請求項第1項所述之液晶顯示裝置,其中該驅動電路單元係為一時序控制器,用以控制該資料驅動積體電路之作業,以供應畫素電壓至該液晶顯示裝置之資料線。
  4. 如請求項第1項所述之液晶顯示裝置,其中該邏輯單元與該靜電屏蔽單元係形成於該輸入/輸出單元所圍繞的一核心區域處。
