Abstract
En elektrisk smelteteknikk der smelte-energi bringes inn i badet av smeltet glass som et resultat av Joule-effekten ved hjelp av elektroder som fores ned gjennom overflaten av badet. Ifølge oppfinnelsen senkes elektrodene inn i badet av smeltet glass som har en lioyde h under 800 mm og en overflate S slik at forholdet h:S er mindre enn 0,5 m/m2. I henhold til et ytterligere aspekt er utbyttingsoverflaten mellom elektrodene og badet over 0,075 nWm3 glass. Oppfinnelsens teknologi finner særlig anvendelse ved fremstilling av glassbaserte produkter som isolasjonsmaterialer basert på glassfibre.
