Abstract

Un procedimiento para preparar un fluido de servicio público relativamente barato, comprende poner en contacto etileno y un catalizador de coordinación-inserción y, opcionalmente, una alfa-olefina, en una zona de reactor continuamente alimentado de mezcla total bajo condiciones tales que se forma una mezcla de un oligómero hiperramificado y un oligómero ramificado. El oligómero hiperramificado tiene un promedio de al menos 1.5 carbonos de metino por molécula de oligómero, y por lo menos 40 carbonos de metino por mil carbonos totales, y al menos 40 por ciento de los carbonos de metino se derivan del etileno, y el número promedio de carbonos por molécula es de 25 a 100, y al menos 25 por ciento de las moléculas de oligómeros hiperramificados tiene un grupo vinilo y puede ser separado del oligómero ramificado, que tiene un número promedio de átomos de carbono por molécula de hasta 20. El catalizador de coordinación-inserción se caracteriza por tener una relación de reactividad de etileno/octeno de hasta 20 y una longitud de cadena cinética de hasta 20 unidades monoméricas.
