Claims (2)
- 전계의 인가 방향에 의해 분자와 마주하는 상태를 달리하여 교류 안정화 효과를 갖는 액정을 복수의 주사 전극과 복수의 제어 전극간에 개재시켜, 각 전극의 교점에 있어서 화소를 형성하여서 구성되는 매트릭스형 액정 광학 장치의 구동 방법에 있어서, 각 주사 전극에는, 복수의 초기화 신호와 이것에 계속되는 선택 신호를 차례로 공급하여 각 초기화 신호 및 선택 신호의 비공급시에는 비선택 신호를 공급하여, 각 제어 전극에는, 선택 신호의 공급에 동기해서, 액정이 교류 안정화 효가를 내는 주파수에 대응한 고주파 성분을 포함하는 데이타 신호 또는 이 고주파 성분을 포함하지 않는 데이타 신호를 공급하여, 각 초기화 신호 각각의 공급 시간은 선택 신호의 공급 시간과 같게 설정되어 있으며, 각 초기화 신호와 데이타 신호와의 전위차에 의해, 각 초기화 신호에 대응한 복수의 초기화 펄스로 이루어지는 초기화 펄스군을 화소에 인가하여 광학적으로 초기화하여, 선택 신호와 데이타 신호와의 전위차에 의해, 화소에 기입 펄스를 인가하여 희망하는 광학 응답 상태로 하여, 비선택 신호와 데이타 신호와의 전위차에 의해, 화소에 교류 펄스를 인가하여 화소의 광학 응답 상태를 교류 안정화 효과에 의해 보존하는 것으로서, 초기화 펄스군은, 화소를 광투과 상태 또는 광차단 상태로 하는 것이며, 기입 펄스는, 화소를 희망하는 광학 응답 상태로 변화시키는 펄스 또는 초기화 펄스군에 의해 초기화된 상태를 유지하는 펄스이며, 또한 그 평균 전압값은 초기화 펄스군의 평균 전압값과 절대값이 같고 극성이 다른 것이며, 교류 펄스는, 교류 안정화 효과를 내는 주파수를 갖고, 또한 정극성의 펄스와 이것과 파형이 대칭인 음극성의 펄스가 교대로 생기는 것을 특징으로 하는 매트릭스형 액정 광학 장치의 구동 방법.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기한 액정이, 상기한 교류 펄스의 주파수 역에서 부의 유전 이방성을 표시하는 강유전 액정인 매트릭스형 액정 광학 장치의 구동 방법.
