Abstract
제 1 성분으로서 큰 광학 이방성, 및 부로 큰 유전율 이방성을 갖는 특정한 2 고리 화합물, 제 2 성분으로서 큰 유전율 이방성을 갖는 특정한 3 고리 화합물을 함유하고, 및 제 3 성분으로서 점도가 작은 특정한 화합물, 제 4 성분으로서 큰 유전율 이방성 및 작은 점도를 갖는 특정한 화합물, 및 제 5 성분으로서 큰 유전율 이방성을 갖는 특정한 화합물을 함유해도 되고, 부의 유전율 이방성을 갖는 액정 조성물로 하고, 이 조성물을 함유하는 액정 표시 소자로 한다.

Claims (18)
- 제 1 성분으로서 식 (1) 로 나타내는 화합물군에서 선택된 적어도 1 개의 화합물, 및 제 2 성분으로서 식 (2) 로 나타내는 화합물군에서 선택된 적어도 1 개의 화합물을 함유하고, 그리고 부 (負) 의 유전율 이방성을 갖는 액정 조성물.
여기서, R1, R2, R3, 및 R4 는 독립적으로 탄소수 1 내지 12 의 알킬, 탄소수 1 내지 12 의 알콕시, 또는 탄소수 2 내지 12 의 알케닐이고 ; 고리 A 는
이고 ; X1, X2, X3, 및 X4 는 독립적으로 불소 또는 염소이고 ; Z1 은 단결합, 에틸렌, 또는 메틸렌옥시이고 ; 그리고, 식 (2) 에 있어서, 2 개의 고리 A 중 적어도 1 개는
이거나, 또는 2 개의 Z1 중 적어도 1 개는 메틸렌옥시이다. - 제 3 항에 있어서,
제 2 성분이 식 (2-2) 로 나타내는 화합물군에서 선택된 적어도 1 개의 화합물인 액정 조성물. - 제 3 항에 있어서,
제 2 성분이 식 (2-7) 로 나타내는 화합물군에서 선택된 적어도 1 개의 화합물인 액정 조성물. - 제 1 항에 있어서,
액정 조성물의 전체 중량에 기초하여, 제 1 성분의 비율이 5 중량% 내지 50 중량% 의 범위이고, 그리고 제 2 성분의 비율이 10 중량% 내지 95 중량% 의 범위인 액정 조성물. - 제 1 항에 있어서,
제 3 성분으로서 식 (3) 으로 나타내는 화합물군에서 선택된 적어도 1 개의 화합물을 추가로 함유하는 액정 조성물.
여기서, R5 및 R6 은 독립적으로 탄소수 1 내지 12 의 알킬, 탄소수 1 내지 12 의 알콕시, 탄소수 2 내지 12 의 알케닐, 또는 임의의 수소가 불소로 치환된 탄소수 2 내지 12 의 알케닐이고 ; 고리 B, 고리 C, 및 고리 D 는 독립적으로 1,4-시클로헥실렌, 1,4-페닐렌, 2-플루오로-1,4-페닐렌, 또는 3-플루오로-1,4-페닐렌이고 ; Z2 및 Z3 은 독립적으로 단결합, 에틸렌, 메틸렌옥시, 또는 카르보닐옥시이고 ; n 은 0, 1, 또는 2 이다. - 제 7 항에 있어서,
액정 조성물의 전체 중량에 기초하여, 제 3 성분의 비율이 10 중량% 내지 85 중량% 의 범위인 액정 조성물. - 제 1 항에 있어서,
제 4 성분으로서 식 (4) 로 나타내는 화합물군에서 선택된 적어도 1 개의 화합물을 추가로 함유하는 액정 조성물.
여기서, R7 및 R8 은 독립적으로 탄소수 1 내지 12 의 알킬, 탄소수 1 내지 12 의 알콕시, 또는 탄소수 2 내지 12 의 알케닐이고 ; 고리 E 및 고리 F 는 독립적으로 1,4-시클로헥실렌 또는 1,4-페닐렌이고 ; Z4 및 Z5 는 독립적으로 단결합, 에틸렌, 또는 카르보닐옥시이고 ; X5 및 X6 은 독립적으로 불소 또는 염소이고 ; Y1 은 수소 또는 메틸이고 ; p 는 1 또는 2 이고, q 는 0 또는 1 이고 ; 그리고, p 가 1 이고, 또한 q 가 0 일 때, 고리 E 는 1,4-시클로헥실렌이다. - 제 10 항에 있어서,
액정 조성물의 전체 중량에 기초하여, 제 4 성분의 비율이 5 중량% 내지 40 중량% 의 범위인 액정 조성물. - 제 1 항에 있어서,
제 5 성분으로서 식 (5) 로 나타내는 화합물군에서 선택된 적어도 1 개의 화합물을 추가로 함유하는 액정 조성물.
여기서, R9 및 R10 은 독립적으로 탄소수 1 내지 12 의 알킬, 탄소수 1 내지 12 의 알콕시, 또는 탄소수 2 내지 12 의 알케닐이고 ; 고리 G, 및 고리 I 는 독립적으로 1,4-시클로헥실렌, 또는 1,4-페닐렌이고 ; Z6 및 Z7 은 독립적으로 단결합, 에틸렌, 메틸렌옥시, 또는 카르보닐옥시이고 ; r 은 0, 1, 또는 2 이고, s 는 0 또는 1 이고, 그리고, r 과 s 의 합이 1 또는 2 이다. - 제 13 항에 있어서,
액정 조성물의 전체 중량에 기초하여, 제 5 성분의 비율이 5 중량% 내지 30 중량% 의 범위인 액정 조성물. - 제 1 항에 있어서,
네마틱상의 상한 온도가 70 ℃ 이상이고, 파장 589 ㎚ 에 있어서의 광학 이방성 (25 ℃) 이 0.08 이상이고, 그리고 주파수 1 ㎑ 에 있어서의 유전율 이방성 (25 ℃) 이 -2 이하인 액정 조성물. - 제 1 항에 기재된 액정 조성물을 함유하는 액정 표시 소자.
- 제 17 항에 있어서,
액정 표시 소자의 동작 모드가 VA 모드, IPS 모드, FFS 모드, 또는 PSA 모드이고, 액정 표시 소자의 구동 방식이 액티브 매트릭스 방식인 액정 표시 소자.
