Abstract

어드레스 검색 시스템{ADDRESS RETRIEVAL SYSTEM}
이동 통신 가입자가 낯선 지역을 여행중인 경우의 고전적인 문제점은 그 가입자가 낯선 지역내에의 특정 사업소 또는 시설을 발견할 필요가 있는 경우에 발생한다. 예를 들어, 가입자가 캘리포니아에서 뉴욕으로 여행중이고 캔사스의 중앙에 위치되며 식사를 하거나 주유를 원하는 경우, 가입자는 이 서비스들이 존재할 수 있는 장소를 알지 못한다.
최근에, 어드레스형 정보를 제공하는 기존의 시스템은 전세계 측위 시스템(GPS)을 포함하여, 사용자에게 사용자의 위치와 관련하여 자신의 위치 및 미리 프로그램된 사이트의 위치를 제공한다. 이러한 형태의 시스템은 매우 유용할 수 있지만, 매우 고가이다. 더욱이, 사용자의 GPS 유닛내에 미리 프로그램되어 있지 않은 사이트는 사용자에게는 사용 불가능하게 된다. 따라서, 셀 방식 전화 시스템의 이동국을 통해 동작하는 시스템은 이동 통신 가입자에게 가치있는 정보를 제공할 것이다.

본 발명은 이동 통신 가입자에게 레스토랑, 주유소, 세탁소 등과 같은 특정 형태의 사업소에 대한 어드레스 정보를 요구하는 자격을 제공하는 방법 및 장치를 이용하여 전술한 문제점 및 다른 문제점을 극복한다. 이동국은 특정 형태의 사업소에 대한 위치 정보에 대한 요구를 발생하기 위해 이동국의 사용자 인터페이스를 통해 사용자 입력에 응답하는 모듈을 포함한다. 이러한 요구는 이동국에 서비스하는 이동 전화 교환국(MSC)으로 송신되고, 그 요구는 이동국용의 홈 위치 레지스터(HLR)로 전송된다.

USSD 메시지로서 엔코딩된 요구가 단계 35에서 기지국(36)에서 MSC/VLR(30)로 송신된 후에, 그 요구는 단계 45에서 이동국(10)의 홈 위치 레지스터(HLR)(40)로 송신된다. HLR(40)은 이동국(10)으로부터의 요구를 처리하고, 단계 50에서 현재 위치 영역(LA) 및/또는 이동국(10)에 대한 셀 글로벌 동일성(CGI)을 결정한다. 위치 영역은 각 MSC/VLR(30)에 의해 커버되는 전체 영역의 부분 그룹이다. 위치 영역은 이동국(10)이 위치 정보를 갱신하지 않고 MSC/VLR(30)로 자유롭게 이동할 수 있는 영역이다. 셀 글로벌 동일성은 위치 영역의 부분 유닛이고, 이동국(10)이 위치되는 특정 셀을 정의한다. 위치 영역/셀 글로벌 동일성 정보가 결정되면, 이 데이터와 원래의 요구가 합해져서 단계 60에서 관련 데이터베이스(55)에 송신된다. 상기 요구 및 위치 데이터는 USSD 메시지를 사용하여 HLR로부터 관련 데이터베이스(55)로 송신된다.
이제 도 3을 참조하면, 관련 데이터베이스(55)의 구조가 도시되어 있다. 각각의 멤버 엔트리(65)는 특정 사업소 종별 카테고리(70)별로 분류되어 있다. 도 3의 예시는 레스토랑의 사업소 종별 카테고리(70)를 도시한다. 다른 예들은 극장, 주요소, 상점가(mall), 볼링장 등을 포함한다. 각 멤버 엔트리(65)에 대해, 사업소 멤버 엔트리가 위치되는 셀 그룹 동일성(75) 및 위치 영역(80)이 그 사이에 결합되어 있다. 어드레스 엔트리(85)는 멤버 엔트리(65)의 물리적인 스트리트 어드레스를 나타낸다.
데이터베이스(55)가 HLR(40)로부터 요구 및 위치 데이터 정보를 수신하면, 이 요구에 포함되는 특정 사업소 종별 카테고리(70)는 단계 100에서 위치 결정된다. 이어서, 이동국(10)에 대한 셀 그룹 동일성(75) 및/또는 위치 영역(80) 정보가 단계 105에서 선택된 사업소 종별 카테고리(70)에 대한 CGI 및 LA 정보와 비교된다. 데이터베이스(55)는 그 후 단계 110에서 요구하는 이동국(10)과 동일하거나 실질적으로 동일한 CGI 및/또는 LA중 하나를 갖는 선택된 사업소 종별 카테고리(70)의 멤버 엔트리(65)를 선택한다. 따라서, 이동국(10)에서 사용자는 그 특정 위치 영역 또는 셀 영역내에 레스토랑을 위치 결정할 수 있거나, 인접 위치 영역 또는 셀 영역내에 레스토랑을 위치 결정할 수 있다.
이어서, 선택된 멤버 엔트리(65)에 대한 어드레스는 단계 115에서 이동국(10)으로 역으로 송신하기 위해 USSD 메시지로 변환된다. 이동국(10)으로 반대의 송신은 HLR(40), MSC/VLR(30) 및 BS(35)를 통해 역으로 발생한다. 수신된 USSD 메시지는 사용자 모듈(20)에 의해 처리되고, 어드레스 정보는 사용자 디스플레이(120)를 통해 디스플레이된다.
도 1은 이동국(10)과 데이터베이스(55b) 사이의 제2 경로를 또한 도시하며, 여기에서 데이터베이스는 MSC/VLR(30)에 직접 접속되어 있다. 이러한 구성에서, MSC/VLR(30)은 이동국(10)에 대한 셀 글로벌 동일성 및/또는 현재의 위치 영역(LA)을 결정한다. 이러한 정보는 그 후 전술한 방식으로 이동국에 가장 가깝게 위치되는 멤버 엔트리(65)를 위치 결정하는데 사용된다.
도 1은 또한 제3 경로를 도시하며, 여기에서 데이터베이스(55c)는 관문 이동 통신 교환국(GMSC)(125)을 통해 공용 육상 이동 통신 네트워크의 외부에 위치된다. HLR(40) 또는 MSC/VLR(30)은 전술한 바와 같이 이동국(10)에 대한 위치 영역을 추출하여 그 정보를 GMSC(125)를 통해 데이터베이스(55c)로 전송한다. 어드레스 데이터는 상기 관문(125)을 통해 이동국으로 역으로 송신된다.
본 발명의 다른 실시예에서, 이동국(10)과 관련 데이터베이스(55) 사이의 모든 메시지는 짧은 메시지 서비스(SMS) 프로토콜을 사용하는 공용 육상 이동 네트워크를 통해 송신될 수 있다. 이 실시예에서, 사용자 모듈(20)은 위치 정보에 대한 요구를 SMS 메시지로 단순히 요약하여, 그러한 메시지를 자립형 전용 제어 채널(SDCCH)과 같은 제어 및 데이터 채널을 통해 송신한다. 요구 및 어드레스 데이터의 송신은 USSD 메시지에 대해 전술한 것과 동일한 방식으로 발생한다. 관련 데이터베이스(55)로부터의 어드레스 데이터를 포함하는 SMS 메시지를 수신한 후에, 이동국(10)은 그 데이터를 가입자 식별 모듈러(SIM) 카드(135)에 전달하고, SIM 카드는 수신된 데이터를 내부 버퍼 또는 메모리 레지스터에 저장한다. 이러한 메시지는 그 후 사용자에 의해 액세스될 수 있다.
본 발명의 방법 및 장치의 바람직한 실시예가 첨부하는 도면에 예시되고 전술한 상세한 설명에 기술되어 있지만, 본 발명은 개시되어 있는 실시예로 제한되지 않고, 이하의 청구의 범위에 의해 나타내고 한정되는 바와 같이 발명의 사상으로부터 벗어나지 않고 다양한 재배열, 변경 및 치환할 수 있음이 이해된다.

Claims (23)

  1. 선택된 사업소 종별에 대한 위치 정보에 액세스하는 셀 방식 전화 네트워크내의 이동국을 제공하는 방법에 있어서:
    중앙 위치에서 이동국으로부터 선택된 사업소 종별의 위치 정보에 대한 사용자 요구를 수신하는 단계와;
    이동국의 현재 위치를 식별하는 위치 데이터를 결정하는 단계와;
    이동국과 실질적으로 동일한 위치 데이터를 갖는 선택된 사업소 종별의 멤버를 위치 결정하는 단계와;
    선택된 사업소 종별의 위치 결정된 멤버에 대한 위치 정보를 요구하는 이동국에 전송하는 단계를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 위치 데이터는 이동국의 위치 영역을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
  3. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 위치 데이터는 이동국의 셀 글로벌 동일성을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
  4. 제1항에 있어서, 비구조화 부가 서비스 데이터 메시지를 사용하여 이동국으로부터 중앙 위치로 요구를 송신하는 단계를 더 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
  5. 제1항에 있어서, 짧은 메시지 서비스 메시지를 사용하여 이동국으로부터 중앙 위치로 요구를 송신하는 단계를 더 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
  6. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 중앙 위치는 홈 위치 레지스터를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
  7. 제6항에 있어서, 상기 전송 단계는 상기 위치 결정된 멤버를 데이터베이스로부터 홈 위치 레지스터, 이동 전화 교환국 및 이동국으로 전송하는 단계를 더 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
  8. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 결정 단계는 복수의 사업소 종별의 복수의 멤버에 대한 리스트를 포함하는 관련 데이터베이스를 이용하고, 각 멤버는 관련된 위치 정보 및 위치 데이터를 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
  9. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 중앙 위치는 방문자 위치 레지스터를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
  10. 셀 방식 전화 시스템의 이동국으로부터 선택된 사업소 종별에 대한 위치 정보를 사용자가 얻을 수 있게 하는 시스템에 있어서:
    상기 이동국내에 위치되어 사용자가 선택된 사업소 종별에 대한 위치 정보에 대한 요구를 발생할 수 있게 하는 수단과;
    위치 정보에 대한 상기 요구에 응답하여 이동국에 대한 위치 데이터를 결정하는 수단과;
    상기 위치 데이터 및 상기 위치 정보에 대한 요구에 응답하여 상기 이동국과 실질적으로 동일한 위치 데이터를 갖는 선택된 사업소 종별의 멤버에 대해 위치 정보를 제공하는 데이터베이스를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 시스템.
  11. 제10항에 있어서, 상기 이동국 및 데이터베이스 내에 위치되는 수단은 비구조화 부가 서비스 데이터 메시지를 사용하는 통신 링크를 통해 상호 접속되는 것을 특징으로 하는 시스템.
  12. 제10항에 있어서, 상기 이동국 및 데이터베이스내에 위치되는 수단은 짧은 메시지 서비스 데이터 메시지를 사용하는 통신 링크를 통해 상호 접속되는 것을 특징으로 하는 시스템.
  13. 제10항에 있어서, 상기 결정 수단은 이동국에 대한 홈 위치 레지스터를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 시스템.
  14. 제10항에 있어서, 상기 데이터베이스는 복수의 사업소 종별에 대한 복수의 멤버를 갖는 관련 데이터베이스를 포함하고, 복수의 멤버는 각각 관련된 위치 데이터 및 위치 정보를 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 시스템.
  15. 제10항에 있어서, 상기 사용자가 요구할 수 있게 하는 수단은 이동국의 사용자 인터페이스를 통해 입력되는 명령에 응답하는 것을 특징으로 하는 시스템.
  16. 제10항에 있어서, 상기 위치 데이터는 위치 영역 식별자를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 시스템.
  17. 제10항에 있어서, 상기 위치 데이터는 셀 글로벌 동일성 식별자를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 시스템.
  18. 제10항에 있어서, 상기 결정 수단은 방문자 위치 레지스터를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 시스템.
  19. 제10항에 있어서, 상기 데이터베이스는 이동국이 동작하는 공용 육상 이동 통신 네트워크의 외부에 위치되는 것을 특징으로 하는 시스템.
  20. 셀 방식 전화 시스템의 이동국으로부터 선택된 사업소 종별에 대한 위치 정보를 사용자가 얻을 수 있게 하는 시스템에 있어서:
    상기 이동국내에 위치되어 사용자가 비구조화 부가 서비스 데이터 프로토콜을 사용하는 통신 링크를 통해 중앙 위치로 위치 정보에 대한 요구를 송신할 수 있게 하는 사용자 모듈과;
    상기 중앙 위치내에서 위치 정보에 대한 상기 요구에 응답하여 이동국에 대한 위치 데이터를 결정하는 수단과;
    복수의 사업소 종별에 대한 복수의 멤버를 포함하여 상기 이동국과 실질적으로 동일한 위치 데이터를 갖는 선택된 사업소 종별의 멤버에 대해 위치 정보를 제공하는 관련 데이터베이스를 포함하며, 상기 복수의 멤버는 각각 관련된 위치 데이터 및 위치 정보를 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 시스템.
  21. 제20항에 있어서, 상기 결정 수단은 이동국에 대한 홈 위치 레지스터를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 시스템.
  22. 제20항에 있어서, 상기 위치 데이터는 위치 영역 식별자를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 시스템.
  23. 제20항에 있어서, 상기 위치 데이터는 셀 글로벌 동일성 식별자를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 시스템.
