Description
Claims (11)
- 2장의 기판 사이에 개재된 강유전성 액정을 포함하는 액정 표시 소자이며, 상기 기판의 대향면 상에 각각 전극과 광 배향막이 순서대로 형성되어 있고, 상기 강유전성 액정이 개재되어 상기 광 배향막의 구성 재료가 서로 다른 조성이고,상기 강유전성 액정이 단안정성을 나타내고, 상계열에 스멕틱 A상을 갖지 않는 것이고,상기 광 배향막의 구성 재료가 각각, 광 이성화 반응을 일으킴으로써 상기 광 배향막에 이방성을 부여하는 광 이성화 반응성 화합물을 포함하는 광 이성화형 재료이고,상기 광 이성화 반응이 시스-트랜스 이성화 반응이고,상기 광 이성화 반응성 화합물이 분자 내에 아조벤젠 골격을 갖는 화합물이고,상기 광 배향막이 상기 아조벤젠 골격의 트랜스체를 포함하고, 액정 분자를 수평 배향시키는 광 배향막이고,한쪽의 상기 광 배향막에 사용되는 상기 광 이성화 반응성 화합물이 상기 아조벤젠 골격을 측쇄로서 갖는 중합성 단량체이고, 다른 쪽의 상기 광 배향막에 사용되는 상기 광 이성화 반응성 화합물이 단분자 화합물인 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 소자.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 광 배향막에 각각 사용되는 상기 광 이성화 반응성 화합물의 상기 아조벤젠 골격이 상이한 치환기를 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 소자.
- 제1항 또는 제2항에 있어서, 상기 중합성 단량체가 상기 아조벤젠 골격 이외에 방향족 탄화수소기를 갖고, 상기 단분자 화합물이 상기 아조벤젠 골격 이외에 방향족 탄화수소기를 갖지 않는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 소자.
- 2장의 기판 사이에 개재된 강유전성 액정을 포함하는 액정 표시 소자이며, 상기 기판의 대향면 상에 각각 전극과 광 배향막이 순서대로 형성되어 있고, 상기 강유전성 액정이 개재되어 상기 광 배향막의 구성 재료가 서로 다른 조성이고,상기 강유전성 액정이 단안정성을 나타내고, 상계열에 스멕틱 A상을 갖지 않는 것이고,상기 광 배향막의 구성 재료가 각각, 광 이성화 반응을 일으킴으로써 상기 광 배향막에 이방성을 부여하는 광 이성화 반응성 화합물을 포함하는 광 이성화형 재료이고,상기 광 이성화 반응이 시스-트랜스 이성화 반응이고,상기 광 이성화 반응성 화합물이 분자 내에 아조벤젠 골격을 갖는 화합물이고,상기 광 배향막이 상기 아조벤젠 골격의 트랜스체를 포함하고, 액정 분자를 수평 배향시키는 광 배향막이고,상기 광 배향막에 각각 사용되는 상기 광 이성화 반응성 화합물의 상기 아조벤젠 골격이 상이한 치환기를 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 소자.
- 2장의 기판 사이에 개재된 강유전성 액정을 포함하는 액정 표시 소자이며, 상기 기판의 대향면 상에 각각 전극과 광 배향막이 순서대로 형성되어 있고, 상기 강유전성 액정이 개재되어 상기 광 배향막의 구성 재료가 서로 다른 조성이고,상기 강유전성 액정이 단안정성을 나타내고, 상계열에 스멕틱 A상을 갖지 않는 것이고,상기 광 배향막의 구성 재료가 각각, 광 이성화 반응을 일으킴으로써 상기 광 배향막에 이방성을 부여하는 광 이성화 반응성 화합물을 포함하는 광 이성화형 재료이고,상기 광 이성화 반응이 시스-트랜스 이성화 반응이고,상기 광 이성화 반응성 화합물이 분자 내에 아조벤젠 골격을 갖는 화합물이고,상기 광 배향막이 상기 아조벤젠 골격의 트랜스체를 포함하고, 액정 분자를 수평 배향시키는 광 배향막이고,한쪽의 상기 광 배향막에 사용되는 상기 광 이성화 반응성 화합물이 상기 아조벤젠 골격 이외에 방향족 탄화수소기를 갖고, 다른 쪽의 상기 광 배향막에 사용되는 상기 광 이성화 반응성 화합물이 상기 아조벤젠 골격 이외에 방향족 탄화수소기를 갖지 않는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 소자.
- 제5항에 있어서, 상기 광 배향막에 각각 사용되는 상기 광 이성화 반응성 화합물의 상기 아조벤젠 골격이 상이한 치환기를 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 소자.
- 제4항 내지 제6항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서, 상기 광 이성화 반응성 화합물이 아조벤젠 골격을 측쇄로서 갖는 중합성 단량체인 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 소자.
- 제1항, 제2항 및 제4항 내지 제6항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서, 상기 강유전성 액정이 단일상을 구성하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 소자.
- 제1항, 제2항 및 제4항 내지 제6항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서, 박막 트랜지스터를 사용한 능동 매트릭스 방식에 의해 구동되는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 소자.
- 제1항, 제2항 및 제4항 내지 제6항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서, 필드 시퀀셜(field sequential) 컬러 방식에 의해 구동되는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 소자.
