- 지상축 방향에 대해, 실질적으로 직교 방향으로 배향된 측쇄 성분(A)을 적어도 갖는 열가소성 폴리머를 함유하며, 상기 측쇄 성분(A)의 흡수단 파장(λcut-off)이 330 ㎚ 이상 400 nm 이하이고, 파장 450 ㎚에 있어서의 면내의 위상차 값(Re[450])이 파장 650 ㎚에 있어서의 면내의 위상차 값(Re[650])보다도 작은 것을 특징으로 하는 위상차 필름.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 위상차 필름의 파장 550 ㎚에 있어서의 면내의 복굴절률(Δn[550])이 0.001 이상인 위상차 필름.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 위상차 필름의 파장 650 ㎚에 있어서의 면내의 위상차 값(Re[650])과, 파장 450 ㎚에 있어서의 면내의 위상차 값(Re[450])의 차(ΔRe650-450 = Re[650] - Re[450])가 10 ㎚ 이상인 위상차 필름.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 측쇄 성분(A)이 방향족환을 2개 이상 포함하는 위상차 필름.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 측쇄 성분(A)이 나프탈렌 골격 또는 플루오렌 골격을 포함하는 위상차 필름.

- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 열가소성 폴리머가 하기 일반식(I)으로 나타내어지는 반복 단위를 갖는 위상차 필름.[화학식 2]식(I) 중, R1 내지 R7은 각각 독립적으로 수소 원자, 할로겐 원자, 탄소수 1 내지 4의 직쇄 혹은 분지의 알킬기, 탄소수 1 내지 4의 직쇄 혹은 분지의 할로겐화 알킬기, 탄소수 1 내지 4의 직쇄 혹은 분지의 알콕시기, 탄소수 1 내지 4의 직쇄 혹은 분지의 티오알콕시기, 직쇄 혹은 분지의 알콕시카르보닐기, 치환 혹은 무치환의 아릴기, 치환 혹은 무치환의 비닐기, 치환 혹은 무치환의 에티닐기, 아실옥시기, 아미노기, 아지드기, 니트로기, 시아노기, 수산기, 또는 티올기를 나타내고(단, R1은 수소 원자가 아님), A1 및 A2는 각각 독립적으로 수소 원자, 탄소수 1 내지 4의 직쇄 혹은 분지의 알킬기, 또는 치환 혹은 무치환의 아릴기를 나타내고, A3은 수소 원자, 탄소수 1 내지 4의 직쇄 혹은 분지의 알킬기, 탄소수 5 내지 10의 치환 혹은 무치환의 시클로알킬기, 치환 혹은 무치환의 아릴기, 치환 혹은 무치환의 나프틸기, 또는 치환 혹은 무치환의 복소환기를 나타내고, A4는 수소 원자, 탄소수 1 내지 4의 직쇄 혹은 분지의 알킬기, 벤질기, 실릴기, 인산기, 아실기, 벤조일기, 또는 술포닐기를 나타냄. l은 2 내지 40 몰%, m은 20 내지 80 몰%, n은 1 내지 60 몰%임(단, l + m + n = 100 몰%).
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 위상차 필름의 파장 550 ㎚에 있어서의 면내의 위상차 값(Re[550])이 50 ㎚ 내지 500 ㎚인 위상차 필름.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 위상차 필름이, 파장 450 ㎚에 있어서의 면내의 위상차 값(Re[450])과, 파장 550 ㎚에 있어서의 면내의 위상차 값(Re[550])의 비(Re[450]/Re[550])가 0.95 이하인 위상차 필름.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 위상차 필름이, 파장 650 ㎚에 있어서의 면내의 위상차 값(Re[650])과, 파장 550 ㎚에 있어서의 면내의 위상차 값(Re[550])의 비(Re[650]/Re[550])가 1.02 이상인 위상차 필름.
- 제1항에 기재된 위상차 필름을 포함하는 광학 적층체.
- 제13항에 있어서, 다른 위상차 필름을 더 포함하는 광학 적층체.
- 제13항에 있어서, 편광자를 더 포함하는 광학 적층체.
- 제1항에 기재된 위상차 필름, 또는 제13항에 기재된 광학 적층체를 포함하는 액정 패널.
- 제16항에 기재된 액정 패널을 포함하는 액정 표시 장치.
