Abstract
Description
Claims (16)
- 서로 대향하는 두 기판의 일측 대향면 상에 서로 평행한 제1전극 및 제2전극의 전극쌍들이 스트라이프 상으로 k 개 배치되고, 상기 두 기판의 타측 대향면 상에 상기 제1전극 및 제2전극의 전극쌍들과 교차하는 방향의 스트라이프 상으로 제3전극이 n 개 배치된 k x n 매트릭스 AC형 플라즈마 표시 패널에서, 상기 제1전극 및 제2전극의 전극쌍에서 상기 제2전극들을 m 개씩 묶어 a개의 공통 결선군을 만들고, 상기 제1전극들은 각각 개별적으로 설치하고, 상기 제2전극으로 결선된 전극을 공통전극이라하고, 상기 개별적으로 설치된 제1전극들을 주사전극이라고 할 때, 하나의 수평동기시간을 복수개의 기간으로 나누어 각각 다른 개수의 방전유지펄스들을 상기 주사전극들 및 공통전극들에 순차적으로 인가하여 상기 복수의 기간을 선택적으로 발광시켜 계조를 구현하여 한 프레임의 화상을 구동하는 AC형 플라즈마 표시 패널의 구동 방법에 있어서,(가) 상기 주사전극에 인가하는 방전유지펄스와 상기 공통전극에 인가하는 방전유지펄스가 서로 교번되도록 인가하는 단계;(나) 상기 m개씩 묶어진 a개의 공통전극군들 각각의 공통전극들에 대응하는 m개의 주사전극들에 인가되는 방전유지펄스에 확보된 시간적 여유 기간 내에 m개의 데이터로 구성된 어드레스 포켓을 설정하되, 각각의 어드레스 포켓의 데이터를 복수개의 각 서브필드의 포켓으로 할당하여 어드레싱하면서, 상기 각 어드레스 포켓의 m개의 데이터 각각에 동기되도록 상기 m개의 주사전극들 각각에 하나의 주사펄스를 인가하되, 이들 주사펄스들은 상기 방전유지펄스와 방전유지펄스 사이에 인가하는 소정 전위의 제1바이어스 펄스 상에 존재하도록 인가하는 단계; 및(다) 상기 (나) 단계와 동시에 상기 각 공통전극군의 공통전극들에는 방전유지펄스와 방전유지펄스 사이에 존재하는 상기 어드레스 포켓 기간이 존재하는 기간에 소정 전압의 제2바이어스 펄스를 인가하는 단계;를포함하는 것을 특징으로하는 AC형 플라즈마 표시 패널의 구동 방법.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 (가), (나) 및 (다) 단계들에서 상기 각 서브필드 마다 상기 어드레스 포켓 기간으로 이루어지는 어드레스 기간과 상기 방전유지펄스가 인가되는 방전유지기간이 지난 후에 소거 기간과 휴지기간이 존재하도록, 상기 방전유지펄스와 상기 제1바이어스펄스 사이의 동일한 기간에 상기 각 m개의 주사전극 단위로 동일한 소거펄스를 인가하는 단계;를 더 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 AC형 플라즈마 표시 패널의 구동 방법.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 (다) 단계에서 상기 제2바이어스 펄스는 상기 공통전극에 인가되는 방전유지펄스와 방전유지펄스 사이에 중단없이 인가하는 것을 특징으로하는 AC형 플라즈마 표시 패널의 구동 방법.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 주사전극에 인가되는 방전유지펄스 및 상기 제1바이어스펄스는 서로 극성이 반대인 것을 특징으로하는 AC형 플라즈마 표시 패널의 구동 방법.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 공통전극에 인가되는 방전유지펄스와 상기 제2바이어스펄스는 서로 동일한 극성의 펄스인 것을 특징으로하는 AC형 플라즈마 표시 패널의 구동 방법.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 제1바이어스 펄스 및 제2바이어스 펄스는 이전의 방전유지펄스가 끝난직후부터 그 휴지기에 인가되는 첫 번째 상기 주사펄스에 인가되기 전까지 온되고, 마지막 상기 주사펄스가 종료된 후부터 다음 방전유지펄스가 인가되기 전까지 오프되는 것을 특징으로하는 AC형 플라즈마 표시 패널의 구동 방법.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 (가) 단계에서 상기 방전유지펄스는 이중으로 인가되는 것을 특징으로하는 AC형 플라즈마 표시 패널의 구동 방법.
- 제7항에 있어서,상기 (가), (나) 및 (다) 단계들에서 상기 각 서브필드 마다 상기 어드레스 포켓 기간으로 이루어지는 어드레스 기간과 상기 방전유지펄스가 인가되는 방전유지기간이 지난 후에 소거 기간과 휴지기간이 존재하도록, 상기 방전유지펄스와 상기 제1바이어스펄스 사이의 동일한 기간에 상기 각 m개의 주사전극 단위로 동일한 소거펄스를 인가하는 단계;를 더 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 AC형 플라즈마 표시 패널의 구동 방법.
- 제7항에 있어서,상기 (다) 단계에서 상기 제2바이어스 펄스는 상기 공통전극에 인가되는 방전유지펄스와 방전유지펄스 사이에 중단없이 인가하는 것을 특징으로하는 AC형 플라즈마 표시 패널의 구동 방법.
- 제7항에 있어서,상기 주사전극에 인가되는 방전유지펄스 및 상기 제1바이어스펄스는 서로 극성이 반대인 것을 특징으로하는 AC형 플라즈마 표시 패널의 구동 방법.
- 제7항에 있어서,상기 공통전극에 인가되는 방전유지펄스와 상기 제2바이어스펄스는 서로 동일한 극성의 펄스인 것을 특징으로하는 AC형 플라즈마 표시 패널의 구동 방법.
- 제7항에 있어서,상기 제1바이어스 펄스 및 제2바이어스 펄스는 이전의 방전유지펄스가 끝난직후부터 그 휴지기에 인가되는 첫 번째 상기 주사펄스에 인가되기 전까지 온되고, 마지막 상기 주사펄스가 종료된 후부터 다음 방전유지펄스가 인가되기 전까지 오프되는 것을 특징으로하는 AC형 플라즈마 표시 패널의 구동 방법.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 공통전극에 인가되는 방전유지펄스를 상기 주사전극에 인가되는 방전유지펄스와 함께 상기 주사전극에 인가되도록 한 것을 특징으로하는 AC형 플라즈마 표시 패널의 구동 방법.
- 제13항에 있어서,상기 (다) 단계에서 상기 제2바이어스 펄스는 상기 주사전극에 인가되는 방전유지펄스와 방전유지펄스 사이의 기간에 상기 공통 전극에 중단없이 인가하는 것을 특징으로하는 AC형 플라즈마 표시 패널의 구동 방법.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 주사전극에 인가되는 방전유지펄스를 상기 공통전극에 인가되는 방전유지펄스와 함께 상기 공통전극에 인가되도록 한 것을 특징으로하는 AC형 플라즈마 표시 패널의 구동 방법.
- 제15항에 있어서,상기 (다) 단계에서 상기 제2바이어스 펄스는 상기 공통전극에 인가되는 방전유지펄스와 방전유지펄스 사이에 중단없이 인가하는 것을 특징으로하는 AC형 플라즈마 표시 패널의 구동 방법.
