Abstract
PURPOSE:To uniformly etch the surface of a flexible substrate by vertically moving the flexible strip substrate having an electrically conductive layer on the surface by a conveyor device having an internal supporting plate, and simultaneously using a brush body reciprocating in the direction orthogonal to the moving direction of the substrate and circularly moved to follow a small circular locus. CONSTITUTION:The flexible strip substrate 10 made of plastics, etc., having a conductive layer on the surface, and coated with the resist film of a specified pattern is vertically conveyed by an endless conveyor 12 circulated and moved by pulleys 11 and 11. A supporting frame 15 provided with plural brush bodies 16 is reciprocated by a driving gear 17 on both sides of the conveyor 12 in the direction orthogonal to the moving direction of the substrate 10 and allowed to follow a small circular locus. A liq. etchant is supplied from a nozzle 23, and the part of the conductive layer not coated with the resist film is etched by the fiber 21 of the brush body 16. The flexible substrate 10 is flattened by the supporting plate 13 in the conveyor 12, the fiber 21 of the brush body 16 is pressed on the substrate 10 by a spring 22, and hence the part of the conductive layer not coated with the resist film on the substrate is uniformly etched even when the substrate is warped and has uneven thickness.
