Abstract

PURPOSE: To easily obtain chips of almost constant size at a low cost by suspending a pressure plate movable up and down on an upper part of a transfer end part of a supply conveyor, and mounting a pressure body movable up and down on an upstream side in a material feeding direction of the pressure plate. CONSTITUTION: When a wood material is supplied onto a belt conveyor 10b by driving a chipper 1 and the belt conveyor 10b, a detector 25 detects the height of the wood material, and a pressure roller (b) runs onto the wood material immediately thereafter. A second pressing device 16 operates a fluid cylinder 22 on the basis of the result of detection of the detector 25, and the fluid cylinder 22 inclines the links 17, 17 up and down just before a front edge of the wood material reaches a pressure plate 21. Whereby the wood material is pressed on the two positions, front and rear, by the pressure plate 21 and the pressure roller (b) in a state that the pressure plate 21 is moved up and down corresponding to the height of the wood material at a position adjacent to an insertion port 7. Whereby the wood material can be cut with the stabilized attitude at all times. That is, the chips of almost constant size can be obtained without the moving-up and the side-moving of the end of the wood material, even when the wood material becomes short and unstable.
