Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a battery with excellent mechanical strength without impairing moisture resistance by using a rubber resin, soluble in polar solvent, as an outside air shutoff material for a battery element consisting of a positive and a negative electrode which are in contact with a solid electrolyte. CONSTITUTION:Electrodes 3 and electricity collectors 5 are formed on only one side of a previously prepared solid electrolyte sheet 1 over the whole sur face, while a group of electrodes 2 to form a couple in a desired side are installed on the other side, and then electrode electricity collectors 4, 5 made of conductive carbon paste, stainless steel thin sheet, etc., are provided mating with the electrodes. To separate this sheet into battery element, the portion a where electrode couples are not overlapped is severed. Lead terminals 6, 7 are connected to this battery element, and the whole construction is sealed against gas and liquid with a seal 8 made of insulative light polymer elastic substance, i.e. rubber resin etc., to accomplish a battery.
