Abstract

PURPOSE:To permit the maintenance of conventional adsorbing performance in a small space by incorporating a filtration portion consisting of cartridge filter elements and an adsorption portion consisting of a bucket packed with adsorbent into a pressurized container. CONSTITUTION:Cartridge type filter elements 1 capable of removing suspended solids from waste liquid and adsorbent 2 capable of removing ionized or colloidal impurities are incorporated into single pressurized containers 9-11. The waste liquid is caused to flow from a nozzle (A) into a tower and, during its flow from the outer surface of the elements 1 toward the center of the tower, the suspended solids or the like are removed and the filtrate is allowed to flow downwardly from the pipes projecting from a pipe plate 4. This filtrate is then passed through an adsorbent layer 2 in an adsorbent bucket 8 to remove ionized or colloidal impurities and is discharged as treated water from a nozzle B. This permits an inexpensive maintenance of the conventional adsorbing performance in a small space.
