Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable a printing to be conducted to a large plane and to carry a recording paper accurately, by a method wherein, when the recording paper is held between a paper discharge shaft and a paper discharge pressure roller, a thermal head and a downstream pressure roller are respectively separated from a platen roller to be returned to an initial position. CONSTITUTION:A recording paper 23 is carried forwards according to a recording size to be set to an initial position. When the recording paper is carried reversely, the recording paper 23 and an ink sheet 11 are inserted between a platen roller 25 and a thermal head 30 and an ink is transferred to the recording paper 23. Then, the leading edge of the recording paper 23 is detached from a downstream pressure roller 50, and a recording is stopped at or just before a heat generation part of the thermal head 30. The recording paper 23 and the ink sheet 11 are fed reversely slightly upstream of a position where the thermal head 30 and the platen roller 25 are opposed to each other, and the recording paper 23 is fed forwards. After only the ink sheet or the recording paper is slightly fed between the pressure roller 50 and the thermal head 30, the recording paper is held between a paper discharge shaft 28 and a paper discharge pressure roller 29. At this time, the thermal head 30 and the downstream pressure roller 50 are respectively separated from the platen roller 25 to be returned to an initial position.
