Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the performance in detecting frosting of an air conditioner by outputting a signal to indicate frosting when the rotational speed of a DC fan motor is at a target speed and the DC voltage to the fan is over a reference voltage which is decided according to the target speed. CONSTITUTION:The speed of a DC fan motor 1 is detected and it is judged whether or not the speed is at a target rotational speed. Next, it is judged whether or not the DC voltage of an electric power source is equal to a reference voltage. If, in those judgements, the rotational speed is not equal to the target speed, the DC voltage is controlled in order to bring the rotational speed of the DC motor 1 to the target rotational speed. If the DC voltage is larger than the reference voltage when the rotational speed is equal to the target speed, the temperature of a coolant is compared with a specified temperature. If the temperature of the coolant is lower than the specified temperature, it is judged that the frosting has occurred and the defrosting operation is conducted. With this constitution it is possible to improve the performance in detecting frosting.
