Abstract
PURPOSE:To upgrade the reproduction resolution by letting at least either a lower magnetic pole or an upper magnetic pole have a high saturating magnetic flux density, and making a magnetic head consist of a magnetic material of a low permeability and a magnetic material of a high permeability. CONSTITUTION:At least either of the upper magnetic poles 4, 5 or the lower magnetic poles 1, 2 have a high saturating magnetic flux density at their foremost end parts, and the magnetic head is constituted of the low permeability magnetic material and the high permeability magnetic material, so that a magnetic gap length for recording and reproducing as well as magnetic pole thickness for the same come optimum. This means that the high saturating magnetic flux density material formed at least in either the upper magnetic poles 4, 5 or the lower magnetic poles 1, 2 functions as a recording magnetic pole; and that, at the time of recording, when a current in such a value as enough to let the other high-permeability layer constituting the magnetic pole is made flow through a coil 7 for a signal-input/output, only the high saturating magnetic flux density material works as a magnetic pole. Also, since this high saturating magnetic flux density material has a low permeability, at the time of reproducing, inversely, only the high permeability layer acts as a magnetic pole. In such a way, by making the thickness of the high permeability layer of the magnetic pole foremost end part thin, the reproduction resolution can be improved.
