Abstract
PURPOSE:To superpose a signal magnetic field upon a bias magnetic field by providing means for feeding a winding with a recording signal current thereby to generate the signal magnetic field from a magnetic pole. CONSTITUTION:When the winding 34 of a first magnetic pole 33 is supplied with a signal current upon a signal recording operation whereas the winding 37 of a second magnetic pole 36 is supplied with a bias current, there are generated a signal magnetic field and a bias magnetic field, respectively. These magnetic fields are vertically applied together to a magnetic recording medium 31. As a result, the medium 31 is supplied with the composed magnetic field between the two magnetic fields so that the medium 31 is vertically magnetized to effect the signal recording operation. In case the recording operation is performed by superposing the bias magnetic field upon the signal magnetic field, it is possible to sufficiently accomplish the recording operation in response to the signal magnetic field at a low level.
