Abstract

CONSTITUTION:A bulb 1 is endless and turned up several times over into comb shape and the plane outside shape is nearly rectangular and forms a rounding discharge path. An induction coil 2 is arranged along the outside wall of the bulb 1 and further along the rounding discharge path. If high frequency current is applied to the induction coil 2 from the outside, an induction field is generated, and the current which flows inside the bulb 1 takes a rounding path along the coil 2, and uniform plasma is formed in the entire bulb 1. Thus, the coupling of the induction coil 2 and the plasma inside the bulb 1 becomes magnetic field coupling and the brightness is high, and in addition light output uniform ranging over the entire bulb 1 can be obtained and unevenness in brightness eliminated.
