Abstract

PURPOSE:To see that the light distribution uniformity becomes excellent and a noise near the device can be reduced by using a bulb which forms a discharge path that communicates with each other near both ends of two straight tubes being parallel and rounds and arranging a coil along the rounding discharge path at the inside periphery of the bulb. CONSTITUTION:A bulb 1 is a rounding discharge path formed by communicating two straight tubes which have airtightness and translucency with each other near their both ends, and an induction coil 2 is arranged along the rounding discharge path at the inside periphery of the bulb 1. If high frequency current is applied to the induction coil 2, an electromagnetic field is inducted and discharge gas substance inside the bulb 1 is energized and ionized and the current flows along the rounding discharge path and the discharge is maintained. Hereby light distribution uniformity becomes excellent and since the opening area of the induction coil 2 is small, noise in the periphery can be reduced.
