Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a clear image at a high speed, by a method wherein, a patten made of conductive parts and non-conductive parts is formed due to the discharge breakdown of a conductive film of an electrical insulating sheet, while electric charges are distributed on the backside of the sheet, a charged toner is applied corresponding to the distribution of the charges, and the toner is transferred and fixed to a body to be printed. CONSTITUTION:In a pattern generating process formed by an earth roller 104, an electrode needle 103, and an electric signal source 105, a conductive film 102 of an electrical insulating sheet 101 is subjected to discharge breakdown to be shaped into a required character image. In an electric charge distributing process formed by a first electrode 107 grounding a sheet obtained due to the breakdown of the conductive film and a second electrode 108 connected to a DC power supply 109, at a non-conductive part 106 electric charges according to a pattern on the surface-side conductive film are loaded on the backside of the sheet. Thereafter, the sheet is fed into a developing process formed by an grounded counter electrode 110 and an electrophotographic developer 111 having a potential lower than the second electrode at a sleeve. The voltages of current sources 109, 115 are accordingly determined, and a toner 116 is applied to the backside of the non-conductive part 106. The developed sheet is laid over a body to be printed 119 and passed between heating pressure rollers 117, 118, whereby the toner is melted and transferred to the backside of the body to be printed and, then, a printed matter is completed.
