Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the contrast and shelf stability of a sensitive material by incorporating silver halide prepd. in the presence of a water soluble iridium salt and specified two kinds of compds. CONSTITUTION:Silver halide prepd. in the presence of a water soluble iridium salt (A), one or more kinds of tetrazolium salts represented by formula I and one or more kinds of compds. represented by formula III are incorporated into one or more of silver halide emulsion layers. In formula I, each of R<1>-R<3> is H or a substituent and X<-> is an anion. In formula III, Z is a group of nonmetallic atoms. required to form a 5--6-membered hetero ring and Y is H, an alkali metal, etc. Potassium hexachloroiridate may be used as the salt A and compds. represented by formulae II, IV may be used as the compds. represented by formulae I, III, respectively. The shelf stability of the resulting sensitive material at high temp. and humidity is improved and a high-contrast dot or line image is obtd. with a developing soln. having satisfactory preservability.
