Abstract

PURPOSE:To produce a Zn alloy plated steel sheet having superior corrosion resistance and chemical treatability by electroplating a steel sheet with a Zn alloy plating bath having a specified Pb<++> concn. and by subjecting the plated steel sheet to cathodic electrolytic treatment or other treatment in an acidic soln. CONSTITUTION:When a Zn alloy plated steel sheet is produced, a steel sheet is electroplated with a Zn alloy plating bath contg. Pb<++> adjusted to 0-1ppm concn. The plated steel sheet is then subjected to cathodic electrolytic treatment, cathodic-anodic electrolytic treatment, anodic-cathodic electrolytic treatment, anodic electrolytic treatment or immersion treatment in an acidic, neutral or alkaline soln. Thus, a Zn alloy plated steel sheet having superior adhesion to paint and superior corrosion resistance after coating is obtd. The obtd. steel sheet is useful as a rustproof steel sheet for an automobile body or household electrical appliances or as building materials.
