Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain an excellent decorative article having continuous polka dots patterns without using a mold by a method wherein an ultraviolet-curing coating material is applied in a dense particulate form to an ultraviolet-cured coated film on a surface of a molded article and then it is cured.
CONSTITUTION: An ultraviolet-curing coating material preferably, one which contains an (modified) acrylic resin as a main component is coated on the surface of a synthetic resin molded article by spraying or the like, and it is then cured by ultraviolet irradiation to produce a coated film. An ultraviolet-curing coating material, which is the same as that constituting said coated film or which is different in color from that constituting said film, is sprayed onto the coated film in such a manner that it is adhered to the film in the dense particulate form. Then, the coating material thus sprayed is cured by ultraviolet irradiation as it is in the particulate form, thereby obtaining the objective decorative article. In addition, the particle size of the particulate-formed coating material is controlled by regulating the amount of the material being sprayed.
