Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce an alloy sheet of superior thickness accuracy by measuring the gap length between a nozzle and the surface of a rotary cooling body, detecting the difference from the prescribed gap length and regulating the nozzle position in response to the detection signal thereof.
CONSTITUTION: The gap length Gl between a nozzle 1 and the surface 2 of a rotary cooling body is measured with high accuracy by a gap measuring means 3 utilizing, for example, a laser beam. The output signal from the means 3 is inputted to a deviation detecting means 4. In the means 4, the preset gap length and the measured gap length are compared and the deviation detection signal thereof is outputted. This output signal is inputted to a nozzle position control means 5 of high accuracy, and the position of the nozzle 1 is so controlled by the means 5 as to maintain the preset gap length within high accuracy.
