Abstract

PURPOSE: To make waste water pollution-free and releasable by adding phenolic compounds to wast water in which nonionic cellulose ether is dissolved, and flocculating and separating the nonionic cellulose ether then decomposing the dissolved phenolic compounds by oxidation.
CONSTITUTION: Phenolic compounds represented by polyhydric phenols such as tannic acids are added to industrial waste water dissolved with nonionic cellulose ether such as methly cellulose, to flocculate, settle and separate the nonionic cellulose ether. Since the pheolic compound counted in COD remain in the residual wast water, a hypochlorous acid or chloric acid type oxide is added thereto to decomposed the phenolic compounds such as tannic acids by oxidation, whereby the waste water is made pollution-free.
