Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare the titled flame-retardant resin having excellent melt-flow characteristics, in high purity, by dissolving a polycarbonate resin of low halogen content in an organic solvent solution of a polycarbonate resin of high halogen content, and washing the mixture.
CONSTITUTION: The objective polycarbonate resin is prepared by washing an organic solvent solution of a mixed polycarbonate resin containing ≥4% of halogen and composed of (a) a halogen-containing polycarbonate resin of ≥4wt% halogen content and (b) 0.05W4, pref. 0.1W1pts.wt., based on 1pt.wt. of the resin (a), of a halogen-containing polycarbonate resin of ≤4wt% halogen content, with an aqueous washing liquid, and removing the solvent from the washed mixture. The concentration of the mixed polycarbonate resin in the solution is 3W20%, pref. 5W15%.
