Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the titled compound in high yield safely, by reacting a trialkoxysilane with acetylene in the presence of a catalyst of platinum-phosphine complex at low temperature at low pressure.
CONSTITUTION: A trialkoxysilane (e.g., trimethoxysilane) shown by the formula HSi(OR)3(R is 1W12C alkyl, alkylaryl, aralkyl) is reacted with acetylene in the presence of a catalyst of a complex [e.g., PtCl2(PpH3)2] shown by the formula PtX2(Pph3)2(X2 is halogen, O, alkyl, triphenylphosphine, CO2, CH2=CH2), to give a vinyltrialkoxysilane shown by the formula CH2=CHSi(OR)3. The reaction (2) is suppressed, the formation of bis(trialkoxysilyl)ethane, a by-product, is small, and the reaction (1) is preceded without using excess acetylene. The reaction is carried out at 40W100°C at atmospheric pressure to 0.5kg/cm2.
